Jessica Chobot Leaving ‘Expedition X’ Before Season 8
Expedition X is back on Wednesday night for Season 8. However, there will be one major difference when the show hits Discovery Channel this week. Jessica Chobot has left the paranormal series. Here is what we know about Jessica leaving Expedition X and what might be next for the reality TV star.
Expedition X Season 8 Returning Without Jessica Chobot
When Expedition X Season 8 premieres on Wednesday night on Discovery Channel, Jessica Chobot won’t be there as part of the show. Many fans got to know Chobot when she hosted IGN Strategize and Weekly Wood on IGN. She then hosted Nerdist News and started her own podcast in 2014.
However, Jessica got a new legion of fans when she left Nerdist in 2019 and joined the cast of Expedition X when it premiered on Discovery Channel in 2020. Hosted by Josh Gates, Phil Torres, and Jessica Chobot, the show follows investigators searching for supernatural happenings, the unknown, and hauntings.
It is a spinoff of Expedition Unknown, which also stars Josh Gates. There was only a short wait between Season 7 and Season 8, as the last season aired earlier in 2024, and it is already time for the new season. However, Jessica won’t be there.
Where Is Jessica Chobot From Expedition X?
The first teasers hit for Expedition X Season 8, and Jessica Chobot was not in it. Instead, Gates and Torres were joined by paranormal investigator Heather Amaro. This shouldn’t be a surprise since Amaro said she was coming to the show for the eighth season. However, many fans wondered if she would join the three or replace Chobot.

It seems she is replacing Chobot. This was clarified by Phil Torres, who made sure to give Jessica credit while promoting the new season. “For those asking, Jess remains one of my closest friends and I’ll always be thankful for the many adventures we had both on and off camera,” he wrote. “She and I hope to find a way to work together again some day!”
Most fans don’t seem happy that she is not coming back, but many others are excited to see what Heather will bring to the show.

Neither Jessica Chobot nor Discovery Channel have addressed her departure. However, Jessica has hinted she might have a new show coming soon.

I’m totally bummed Jessica isn’t coming back for season 8..I’ll give the new cast a shot but I’m not excited..TBH I only watch the show cuz Jessica is so beautiful,she is definitely my celebrity crush..and I am interested in the UFO episode ‘s but the other shit scares me but I still watch to see her..
I’m sad Jessica has left the show “Expedition X”” I love the chemistry between her and Phil and I love the show and I love Josh ! I will continue to watch it because it’s a GREAT SHOW ! I hope to see Jessica come back soon and see what Heather brings to the new gang !
Sorry, but Expedition X isn’t the same without Jessica, watched the first episode of Season 8 and the “chemistry” just doesn’t seem to be there even with Josh throwing in with the new team. I’ll be looking for Jessica somewhere in the future, hope it’s not too long before she is back on TV. God Luck Jessica we Love ya Kid!

I am extremely bummed to learn Jess will not be on the new Season (8) I am a huge fan of her and I will miss the pair working together. I will watch the new season and see how I like it. I have to at least give Heather a fair shot, that is the decent thing to do. Good Luck to you Jess and can not wait to see what your future holds.
Hoping this is a good thing as she is free to host her own show and X has the cash to travel to great locations. Only thing missing is an ethical medium like Amy Allan from Dead Files. The problem adding a medium is they should only open up once a month or suffer serious health problems. I guess a weekly show could find 4 guest mediums. Shows like X are interesting compared to Zak Bagans Ghost Adventures that’s more like a comedy sitcom.

How many times have you watched her? Everytime with those drawings…… “Is this what you saw”. “Yes, that’s him/her” Everytime. Seriously. This stuff is so staged. Steve is the only real one on there and this is a stretch.

from what I hear there would be more ghost shows (a better variety) on travel channel but Zach bagans keep shooting everything down because he’s a narcissistic jackass!
jess is the main reason I watched. her exuberance is infectious. can’t figure why they let her go. never be the same without her.
I will definitely miss Jess she was funny smart and beautiful. the best part was when she was scared it seemed real and not contrived.she has a great personality and was the star of the show.

Funny, because anyone that cares to leave a message is a guy that likes Jess. Well guess what that’s me. For real the only reason I watched X was to see Jess. The first time I saw her on the show I said out loud, damn that girl is beautiful. I was just flippin thru channels, but when I saw Jess I set the dvr timer. So there really is no reason to watch the show, just not that interested. Watched, s8 ep1, but I’m deleting the timer. Sorry but yeah, she’s just that damn pretty, I was all rewinds, slo-mos, etc… Gorgeous Girl

It’s the host Josh Gates that’s why I watch the show he is the man the guest on the show are all great. But Josh Gates make the show. Watch him all the time

Jess was the best, is the best for the show,beautiful, smart, funny and I loved her on the show. I will still watch the show because I have always been a big fan of Josh.

I loved to hear Jess poke fun at Phil. Not the same without her. Phil and Jess had a connection like Nick and Katrina in Paranormal Lockdown.
I’m a female and I do not like the new girl Heather. She’s comes off very fake, and everything she says sounds so scripted. Her voiceovers are terrible and her reactions don’t seem legitimate. Not enjoying the feel of the show with the change.
I love expedition X overall but don’t care for Heather. Jess definitely made the show better. Would be great if they could somehow bring her back. Definitely not as excited about watching it as I have been in the past.
I do hope Heather and Phil will get in their rhythm working together. Jess is phenomenal to watch, and I will miss her, but I sure will give Heather a chance to see how they work together. Good luck to Jess. I hope everyone can watch you again on something soon, but I understand how family comes first. Do what you need to, but hope Jess can get back to working again.
I’ve gave Heather a chance she is a sad replacement for Jess. she is boring and brings nothing to the show . the way Jess interacted with Phil was great Jess brought Phil out of his comfort zone and showed he was not a nerdy scientist with no stage presence again boring. now the show is a boring nerdy scientist and a boring fake acting supposed paranormal investigator. I’ve watched the show from the beginning but now I’ll find something else to watch. this fan’s opinion is the show is not worth watching anymore. it’s just boring 😴
The new girl is very business like but too soon to judge. One thing she lacks the almost giddy joy and humor that Chobot enchanted us with.
