NSYNC’s Lance Bass Reveals Rare Diabetes Diagnosis

Over time, more celebrities have bravely spoken up about their health and wellness issues. Many want to spread awareness about various health conditions, while some want to show the public they aren’t alone. NYSYNC singer Lance Bass is among them.

During the pandemic, he discovered he had diabetes. Now, he’s using his platform to spread awareness — especially since his type is so rare.

Lance Bass Details Rare Diabetes Diagnosis

Lance Bass definitely has diabetes. However, there is a new development in his healthy journey. His type of diabetes isn’t quite what doctors thought it was.

“Plot twist: I have Type 1.5 diabetes!” Lance captioned his Instagram video. He discussed how his medical device has been a “game-changer” in his health journey and helps take care of his body.

“As all of you know, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few years back,” the NSYNC singer shared. “But when I was first diagnosed, I had a difficult time getting my glucose levels under control even though I made adjustments to my diet, medication, and my workout routine.”

He shared that his medical team misdiagnosed him.

“I actually have Type 1.5, or latent autoimmune diabetes of adults [LADA],” Lance added.

The singer’s fans felt relieved to hear he was taking care of his health. However, many expressed that they had never heard of Type 1.5 diabetes. Others praised Lance for spreading awareness and shared their own stories.

The Singer Learns To Adjust To Living With Diabetes

Lance Bass previously told PEOPLE he was struggling to adjust to living with diabetes.

“I developed diabetes during COVID, and I’m really trying to figure out how to control that,” the 45-year-old told the publication. “I’m definitely conscious of my eating now.”

He added that he knows he’s getting older so he’s doing his best to take care of his body. Without a doubt, Lance Bass’ social media followers sincerely appreciate his honesty and transparency about his health journey. There are many people out there who can relate.
