Mama June Seeks Out Eldridge Toney As Ally In Custody Case

Mama June Shannon has sought out Anna Cardwell’s widower, Eldridge Toney, as an ally in her custody case. She is facing off with Anna’s ex-husband, Michael Cardwell for custody of Kaitlyn Shannon and it appears she needs character witnesses. So, how can Eldridge help? Keep reading for more details.

Mama June Seeks Out Eldridge Toney As Ally In Custody Case

In early 2023, Anna Cardwell and Eldridge Toney privately married which came out toward the end of her life. It was filmed for the first part of this season of Family Crisis with the wedding being thrown together by Pumpkin. Anna’s father was in attendance to walk his daughter down the aisle and it was a very special moment. She had been married once before to Michael Cardwell which did not last long. Yet, it resulted in one daughter, Kylee as Anna already had Kaitlyn from a previous relationship. After Michael and Anna split, she started dating Eldridge in 2017.

He really loved her daughters and they became a sweet little family. Though she never wanted to think about her end-of-life details, custody was huge. Kylee would go with her dad, Michael but Kaitlyn needed a plan. Anna wanted her to live with Eldridge but was unsure if he wanted that as badly as she did. Mama June was not thrilled with this because she felt her home was much more stable. Nothing was filed before Anna passed and Kaitlyn ended up with June but Michael has since filed for custody.

Now, according to In Touch Weekly, Mama June subpoenaed Eldridge Toney to be a character witness for her in court. She has maintained that Michael Cardwell is not fit to parent as he had been abusive during his marriage to Anna. Mama June’s attorney wrote this:

“During his marriage to Anna, [Michael] frequently physically abused Anna and the child and it would not be in the child’s best interests to be in [Michael’s] care and control.”

Michael clapped back, with his lawyer stating this:

“Michael denies these allegations. This is the first time that any of these allegations have been made against him. He and Anna had a great relationship when they were married and simply separated due to differences in opinions and personalities. They managed to get along throughout the divorce as well and had maintained a good relationship with his family and him. They’ve always stuck together for their children, and we will see what proof Ms. Shannon has for these types of claims, these very serious claims, to make on somebody — if she has any proof at all.”

However, fans and followers have noted how poorly June and Anna’s extended family treated Kaitlyn. It has been seen on TikTok Lives where they are verbally abused the tween. Michael’s biggest issue is the sisters should be together amid their mother’s passing.

Will It End Well?

Fans are concerned for Kaitlyn because they do not think Mama June raised her own children. Furthermore, she and Anna Cardwell were estranged for many years. She also turned over custody of Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson to Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird. June then put up a fight when she had to pay child support so the idea of her raising an impressionable child is very hard. As to how Eldridge Toney feels in the midst of all of this, he has not spoken out or asked for custody of Kaitlyn.
