Anna Cardwell Interview, Mama June Bribed Her With A House?

When Here Comes Honey Boo Boo aired, Mama June acted like they were a dysfunctional functioning family. Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell (Shannon) was the eldest and a teen mother to Kaitlyn. Then there was Jessica ‘Chubbs’ Shannon followed by Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird (Shannon). Last but not least, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson. Mama June was in a relationship with Alana’s dad, Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson and he seemed to step up as the father figure for all of them. Yet, behind it all, there were so many secrets and demons no one knew.

After the show was canceled due to the men Mama June was spending time with, Anna sued her mother as well as TLC. She alleged she did not see the money she or Kaitlyn were owed though she eventually dropped it as it was too costly. She and June were long estranged but Anna did a handful of interviews exposing the truth. In one with ET, Anna was candid about being brought back to film Honey Boo Boo. She had not lived with her mother for some time but when the show was picked up, she was asked why she moved home.

At around the 1:30 mark, Anna Cardwell explained that she was dating Kaitlyn’s father and pregnant. He did not want her to leave but Mama June promised both of them a house. She said Anna only had to do the show for a year to get the home. This lasted two and a half years and the home never came. It was also devastating for Anna that her mother would date a man who had molested her as a child.

Fans Have Questions

A lot of this has resurfaced as fans want to know if Anna Cardwell really lived with her family during the Honey Boo Boo years. More so, Mama June has alleged she raised Kaitlyn. Yet, Anna met and married Michael Cardwell shortly after she was born. So, there are many inconsistencies. A Reddit thread was started to chat about Anna and where she resided during that time:

• She was only there during filming. In an old house tour video, June slipped and said the family jokes that Anna’s bed was her “hotel”, then scrambled and tried to cover her tracks.
• She lived with her grandmother but June convinced her to come on the show because she knew the teen pregnancy would draw viewers in and Anna wanted money for the baby June also promised her a house and stuff if she came on but she never lived there she went back to Sandra’s each day June didn’t have room for the 3 girls she had in there let alone Anna and Kaitlyn

It is clear that viewers knew all along that this was staged and set up but that June never delivered on her promise. This is why so many people do not think she is fit to raise Kaitlyn.
