‘Family Feud’ Fans Livid After Blatant Michael Jackson Insult
Family Feud and host Steve Harvey came under fire recently for a blatant Michael Jackson insult on the show. So, what happened with this situation, and why were fans so upset?
Family Feud: Game Show Known For Ruffling Feathers
Despite being touted as a family game show, NSFW moments are a regular part of the Family Feud experience. In fact, this has become the norm on the show, to the extent that many say it’s no longer as family-friendly of a game show as it once was.
It’s obvious to many Family Feud fans that the questions are particularly raunchy or leading on purpose. It’s the sort of thing where, producers know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to suggestive questions and innuendo. These types of prompts make for good television. That still doesn’t stop the show from ruffling more than a few feathers, though.
Survey Question Disses The King Of Pop?
In recent Family Feud scenes, a survey question read by Steve Harvey ruffled more than a few feathers. The host asks two competitors: “Bad news. You found your husband’s blow-up doll. Worse news. It’s dressed to look like who?
Without missing a beat, one player slams on her buzzer and says: “Michael Jackson.”
You can instantly hear gasps from the audience at this response. If that were not enough, the look on Steve Harvey’s face says it all, with a mixture of shock, awe, and flat-out disbelief.
After a long pause from Steve Harvey, it turned out that the answer was on the board under the “Celeb” category. So, technically, this player wasn’t wrong with her response.
Family Feud: Viewers Rage At Distasteful Decision
As Family Feud social media accounts often do, the clip with the Michael Jackson answer was uploaded, and viewers continue to tune in to the hilarious clip. However, according to many Michael Jackson fans, they blasted Steve Harvey and the show’s producers for their poor taste.
For anyone who is not aware, the Family Feud clip happened to be shared on the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. He wasn’t called the King of Pop for nothing, as many listeners still celebrate him and his career years after his passing, back in June of 2009.
Whether it was intentional or a situation of unfortunate circumstance that the program shared this clip on the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, plenty of social media users took to comment sections to express what poor judgment this was on the part of producers.
- One viewer said: “They did this on purpose I swear today is the anniversary of his death.”
- Another commenter piled on, saying: “Yall posting this on his death anniversary is diabolical.”

I think the questions have a lot to be desired. I don’t think a daytime show like this, should allow suggestive questions as these. I find them appalling at time. I don’t remember being disgusted by questions that Richard Dawson read.
My goodness: you are only seeing this now?
It’s been going on for quite some time and really has often made me change the channel….love it though when their answers (which he thinks aren’t there) are on point and he acts surprised
