Lifetime ‘Mommy Meanest’: Lisa Rinna Always Wanted To Play ‘Somebody Really Crazy’
Lisa Rinna has taken the drama from RHOBH to Lifetime. In her upcoming movie Mommy Meanest, she portrays “someone really crazy.” In addition, she is acting with her daughter Delilah Hamlin for the first time.
What does the Melrose Place alum have to say about her role and working with her daughter?
How Did Lisa Rinna Get Mommy Meanest Role On Lifetime?
Lisa Rinna is starring in the Lifetime thriller Mommy Meanest. How did she end up in this creepy role? Rinna recently spoke to TV Insider about her new project. She revealed that right after she was done with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she was invited to a Lifetime breakfast. Then, fate happened, despite the strike delay.
We were talking about what I wanted to do, and I said I would love to play, Ellie, a murderer or somebody really crazy. We started talking and looking at different projects, and then the strike happened. Then they came back to me with this idea. I liked it because this is based on a true story, and this woman is really troubled and quite sick in her head.
Mommy Meanest is the story of Madelyn (Rinna), a woman who watches her daughter Mia, played by Briana Skye, start to bloom without her. Mia is getting ready for college, and now she has met a great boyfriend. This means less time with her mom. However, Mia’s life is upended by a cyberbully. The shocker is that this is not an online troll or someone from school. The bully is her own mother!
Because this was inspired by true events, Lisa Rinna found that digging into this character was “interesting to research.” But, she had one big challenge. She did not want to “make her over-the-top crazy.” Somewhere in this performance, Lisa wants to show that this is a mother who thinks she is doing the right thing for her daughter.
What Does Lisa Rinna Say About Working With Daughter Delilah Hamlin?
Speaking of daughters, Lisa’s daughter Delilah Hamlin is also starring in this new Lifetime movie. She plays Mia’s friend Summer. As for what Lisa Rinna says about working with Delilah, she has shared a few tidbits. Firstly, she claims that Delilah is “a natural.”
Second, this proud mom shared that although Delilah, 25, and her other daughter Amelia, 22, swore they would never go into acting, she always felt “it was such a shame.” She then revealed, “Delilah was so funny putting on shows when she was little–so it feels appropriate and right’ that she is following in her, and her husband Harry Hamlin’s footsteps.
When Does Lifetime’s Mommy Meanest Premiere?
The premiere of Lisa Rinna and Delilah Hamlin in Mommy Meanest is on Saturday, May 11, at 8 p.m., Eastern on the Lifetime Channel. Also, on the next day, Mommy Meanest will be available to stream on the Lifetime App.
