Laura Wright Opens Up About Steve Burton’s ‘GH’ Comeback
General Hospital star Laura Wright is opening up about the thrilling comeback of Steve Burton. Burton long portrayed Jason Morgan on the award-winning soap. Now, he is back in Port Charles and is stirring up the drama. Read on to see what Wright is saying about this exciting return.
Laura Wright Opens Up About Steve Burton’s GH Comeback
It was a really difficult time when Steve Burton was let go from General Hospital in 2021. ABC had set in place a vaccine mandate and Burton did not comply. Along with Ingo Rademacher, they both were terminated though Rademacher claims his firing was deeper than just a vaccine. Burton went on to join Days of Our Lives but when his time came to an end, fans wondered if he would return to GH. Enough time had gone by and it seemed like this was an extreme possibility. Then, at the end of the 60th anniversary special, Laura Wright was joined by Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall).
Both had played love interests for Steve Burton’s character, Jason Morgan. As they came through two doors, there was one unopened in the middle. Soon, Burton entered and it was clear that he was back and good things were ahead.
Now, the time has come and it has started with a bang. Jason was there when a gun was aimed at Sonny Corinthos but he diverted it. Sonny’s son, Dante Falconeri came to the rooftop where Jason and the gunman he was with were standing. Dante was shot but not before he was stunned to see Jason as he was presumed to be dead. According to TV Insider, having Steve back in this role has been thrilling for Laura, who plays Carly Corinthos.
“It’s perfect. It’s home. It’s safety. Jason coming back into Carly’s world, it fires up the part of Carly that fights for him, that believes in him, and is next to him no matter what, and not everybody can handle that. It’s the same thing that connects us all to Steve, and I love this so much. It’s Jason and Steve, their integrity. The character of Jason will die for for the ones he loves, and that is something all of us would love to have and not everybody does. But, we understand and connect to it, because it’s something that we want.”
A Change To Jason
As for Steve Burton, he echoed some of what Laura Wright had to say. He noted that Jason has largely been misunderstood. However, there will be a backstory to what happened when his character allegedly was killed in the tunnel collapse. It will be hashed out how he survived but, it must be noted that his arrival was supposed to be completely different. Yet, this time, everyone will get the answers that they want and leave no stone unturned.

I am over the moon that Jason is back. The show has been good, but without Jason it was lacking. So thanks to the person or people who allowed this to happen. Now keep him and don’t let him go.
