‘Bringing Up Bates’ Josie Bates Still In Hospital After Baby’s Birth, Why?
Bringing Up Bates star Josie Bates Balka has been getting much attention since giving birth to her third child, Miles. The 24-year-old recently revealed that baby Miles will be monitored at the hospital due to complications. However, the mother of six herself has also been staying at the hospital due to her own health issues. It’s been quite a few days since she last shared an update about her health, making many of her fans curious. Until recently, Kelton’s wife finally answered the questions of many. Keep reading to see what Josie and Miles’ conditions are and their whereabouts today.
Bringing Up Bates: What Happened To Josie Bates’ Newborn Son?
Josie’s baby boy was born with high antibodies. Due to this, doctors had to monitor him for several days. The Bringing Up Bates star has shared clips of Miles undergoing UV light therapy to get rid of bilirubin. According to studies, it could lead to serious complications when it builds up, such as brain damage or even death. Fortunately, Miles has been a warrior, and he seems to be doing better today. Kelly Jo even took to social media to share that her newborn grandson is doing great and might get released soon.
Is Josie Still Inpatient?
At this point, Josie Bates Balka is still at the hospital, based on her recent IG posts. She’s been sharing pictures of herself in what appears to be a private room while watching over her baby boy. However, some Redditors were curious about how the Bringing Up Bates star was able to stay much longer. According to some, it depends on the hospital if they’re going to allow the mother to stay and watch over her newborn, while others pointed out that it’s an unusual practice.
- “I’m not from the US.. is it normal for the mom to stay inpatient with the baby for so many days after birth? Our experience in Canada is that the baby goes to the NICU and the mom gets discharged and commutes. I think 48 hrs is the max a mom can stay in the hospital if there are no concerns. I think it’s great she can stay and care for Miles I was just not sure what is norm in the States.”
- “It’s possible she’s already been discharged but they moved her to a different room so she can stay with her newborn son.”
- “I think she stayed when Hazel was in the hospital. And if I remember correctly when Layla was a baby they allowed Carlin to stay with her while she was receiving some kind of treatment.”
- “I’m in the US and usually moms stay 24-48hrs for vaginal deliveries. I didn’t think insurance covered the mom staying after that if baby needs to stay but they totally might!”
- “I think just depends on hospital and stuff. My sister stayed extra day while my niece had to be under the light. They didn’t send her home or anything.”
Bringing Up Bates: Josie Bates Prepares To Go Back Home
Josie also took to IG to share a clip of herself carrying Miles in a hospital room. She also did her makeup for the first time in almost a week. Later in the video, the Bringing Up Bates star revealed that they’re finally going home after the sixth day of her postpartum. “Cannot wait to be home as a family of 5,” she captioned.
