Travis Kelce has become a meme after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. However, as the team celebrates the big win, Kelce has to answer for something else. Television cameras caught Kelce bumping head coach Andy Reid and yelling at him on the sidelines.

While the incident only took a matter of seconds, the still frame of Kelce yelling has spread around social media like wildfire. Here is what Kelce had to say about the moment.

Travis Kelce speaks out on yelling at Andy Reid

Before anyone could ask Travis Kelce about the incident, people asked Andy Reid. While many people are angry about the moment and are slamming Kelce, Reid laughed about it. The head coach said Kelce keeps him “young” and that he gives as much as he takes when it comes to the tight end. For Reid, this was a moment during the game that just showed Kelce’s competitive nature.

As for Kelce, reporters finally caught up with him about it after the game at the press conference. When asked about the incident, Kelce joked it off. “You guys saw that? I’m going to keep it between us unless my mic’d up tells the world,” Kelce said. He then joked he was just telling Andy how much he loves him.

It seems that, while fans at home want to make a big deal of this moment, neither Kelce nor Reid think it is a big deal. What seems to have happened was that Kelce was on the sidelines during an important moment in the game. What commentator Tony Romo pointed out was that Kelce was likely mad he wasn’t in the game at that time to help his team.

There was also a moment of frustration because Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco had just fumbled the ball and the 49ers were threatening to win. Kelce wanted to be there to help his team, and his frustrations boiled over.

The Chiefs win anyway, and Kelce was part of it

Travis Kelce was clearly frustrated. There was a moment in overtime when the 49ers had taken a three-point lead. The Chiefs had to either kick a field goal and tie it up again or score a touchdown to win. Any other option meant losing the game at the end of that drive. On one play where the Chiefs ran the ball up the middle, Kelce was on the field but just slowly walked after the ball was snapped and didn’t seem interested in that specific play.

However, things changed on the very next play when Patrick Mahomes hit Kelce with a pass, and that led to a first down in the three-yard line. The very next play after that, Mahomes hit Mecole Hardman for a three-yard touchdown pass to give the Chiefs the big win.

“I got the greatest coach this game has ever seen,” Kelce said after the game. “He’s helped me a lot with that, with channeling that emotion, with channeling that passion. And I owe my entire career to that guy and being able to control how emotional I get and I just love him, man.”
