The hosts of The View explained what was wrong with Joy Behar after the longtime TV personality was absent from her second consecutive episode.

As most fans of The View know, Behar is typically out every Monday. So when viewers tuned into the daytime talk show on Tuesday, it was apparent that Behar was out once again. Before fans had the chance to speculate, Whoopi Goldberg quickly addressed the elephant in the room.

“Hello and welcome to The View. Joy is out this week. You know why? She finally got COVID,” Goldberg said. The studio audience appeared to be quite shocked by the sudden revelation. “Three years, four years in, it finally got her.”

The View Hosts Poke Fun At Joy Behar

Despite her COVID diagnosis, Behar’s co-stars couldn’t help but make a few lighthearted jokes at her expense. “She can stop bragging now,” Sara Haines said. Behar had previously boasted about her ability to dodge the coronavirus for years.

“About her special blood type,” Sunny Hostin quipped.

“That’s right,” Goldberg commented, agreeing with Hostin’s barb at Behar.

Just ahead of the nationwide lockdowns in an attempt to slow down COVID-19, Behar announced that she would be taking time away from the show. She highlighted her age as the primary reason for her decision. “I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy,” Behar said during the taping. “I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.”

“I decided I’m going to stay home for a while. I’m going to socially distance myself a little bit,” Behar said to her co-stars. She received overwhelming support for taking the extra precaution to safeguard her health. “Are you going to miss me?” Behar asked.

“Probably,” joked Goldberg.

Filling In For Joy Behar

Stepping in to co-host a popular show is never an easy task. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown was selected to fill in for Behar during her week away from the show. Brown is no stranger to the show, having guest-hosted several times over the last few years. In fact, she looked right at home with her bubbly personality.

When the show transitioned to its “Hot Topics'” segment, Brown felt comfortable enough to announce some seriously life-changing news. “I heard that The View is the place to announce things like this. I’m engaged,'” she said to an eruption of applause. Brown then held up her left hand to show off her ring to everyone.

Brown seemed absolutely giddy as she shared the news. “He’s here!” she added, pointing to her fiancé in the audience. “That’s Tony.”

When asked how the two of them met, Brown revealed that she and David were longtime friends before they started dating. “We have known each other since we were in our 20s. We were in an acting class together at church years ago,” she explained. “He’s an amazing actor, by the way. Anthony Davis, everybody.”

  1. I hate to hear that Joy may be retiring any time soon. She and Whoopi hold that show together. not to say that Sarah, Anna, and Sonny aren’t major players, but you two speak your minds and calm any situations that arises with utmost professionalism. Please stick around Joy!!! The View just won’t be the same without you. You’re a part of the foundation of the show since you’ve been there from day one so to speak and a building is nothing but a pile of rubble without it’s foundation. Please Stay a few more years, Joy. You and I are the same age and neither of us will ever ” retire ” as long as we have a breath left in us.
