Jill Duggar Explains IBLP Exaggerated For TV Growing Up?
Counting On alum Jill Duggar Dillard opened up about growing up in a strict IBLP household in her latest podcast with Derick. The 32-year-old mother has been trying to expose the harmful teachings of her family’s church. She even wrote a book against Bill Gothard and the questionable things her parents have done throughout the years. It seems that the mother of three is no longer holding back despite finally getting on good terms with her supersized family. Keep reading to see what Jill and Derick have to say against the IBLP.
Counting On Jill Duggar’s Relationship With The IBLP
Jill has taken multiple steps to unmask Bill and the IBLP. She no longer follows the majority of their church’s core values. In one of her interviews, the Counting On alum said that she sees the IBLP as a controversial church. However, she and her husband remain faithful in their ways.
She also added that the removal of their former leader, Bill Gothard, doesn’t change anything, as the same questionable principles are still being taught to families. Gothard was removed from the IBLP’s leadership in 2014 after dozens of women accused him of sexual harassment.
Jill Talks About Growing Up In A Strict IBLP Household
During a podcast, Jill discussed her experience growing up following the strict rules of the IBLP. According to the former Counting On star, they grew up without a TV in their home, and they never got to watch their show. She also believes that the IBLP taught them those rules to protect their image.
But I will say that, yes, I think that these rules and things that IBLP taught were emphasized more because then you have a platform and a reputation at stake.
Jill Duggar also claimed that they were taught to protect the ministry and live what she was preaching. Otherwise, she will be “attacked.” “The pressure was already there just because of the group pressure that we were in and the way that we were raised,” she added. The fourth Duggar child also added that being on a TV show puts them in a more intense situation.
Counting On: Jill Duggar Remains In Touch With Family Despite Speaking Out
Jill has already participated in multiple interviews regarding her book and her decision to step away from the IBLP. However, the Counting On alum remains in touch with her family in Arkansas. She has participated in multiple Duggar get-togethers this year. Some of which are attended by her mother, Michelle Duggar.
Jill Duggar has yet to share where her relationship with Jim Bob stands today. But many are glad that she’s no longer an estranged member of the family.
