Jill Duggar Dillard puts her family’s secrets on blast.

As we’ve reported, earlier this month, Jill Duggar Dillard released a tell-all book called Counting the Cost. The book details her time on TLC and some of the conflicts she’s faced with her parents over the years. Specifically, she has had many ups and downs with her father, Jim Bob Duggar. It doesn’t paint her father in the best light, but fans are very supportive of Jill sharing her story.

So far, only Jinger Duggar Vuolo has shown support for her sister’s book. Most of the family is keeping quiet, though Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth claimed she plans to read it.

In an interview with TodayJill Duggar Dillard detailed her father’s reaction to her book. Fans assumed Jim Bob wouldn’t be happy with the book and the dark secrets Jill brought to light. But now, she’s revealing exactly what happened.

After she publicly revealed she had written a book, her father sent a message in the family group chat. In her recent interview, she explained, “My dad texted the entire family group text (since we’re still in the group thread) and he was just saying, ‘This is so sad’ and basically threatening that if anybody speaks out against him or my mom that they would be cut out of the inheritance.”

In addition to threatening to take away his kids’ inheritance, the Duggar patriarch reminded his children that they “owe their lives” to Bill Gothard, the founder of the IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles). Bill stepped down from his role several years ago amid disturbing allegations. But based on what Jill Duggar Dillard has shared, it sounds like Jim Bob Duggar still supports the IBLP and Bill Gothard.

Only time will tell what happens to the Counting On stars’ inheritance, but it sounds like Jim Bob is very unhappy with the book Jill wrote.

    1. It’s his money! No child is owed an inheritance. You may not like him but what he does with his money is his decision. All the children should make their own way and they have the freedom to say whatever they want if it’s not defamatory or lies!

      1. But…IS it His money? Sounds to me like he hoarded the TLC money, ripped the kids off, and is now threatening he won’t give them anything if they speak their truth? All he has really done is corroborate Jill’s revelations by using money as his weapon. GOOD parents would be contrite and try to work things out, including apologizing for how they made the kids feel. They may not be owed “inheritance” but they are owed past due wages. For work they did. He fails to understand how difficult this is to come out publically and reveal family secrets that harmed you, with the intention of protecting others who are or may go through this with this cult religion. We all know he supports Josh over his daughters, and by raising Gothard up as a saint, knowing full well the molestation scandals that followed him, and brought him down, it feels like the Duggar kids are owed much more than money can buy.

  1. I read the book. She wasn’t deliberately mean to him just stated the facts. Jim Bob has always seemed real arrogant and had to maintain total control over all his kids.

  2. I would agree with you if you included that he should pay his children for the time they were on the tv show. Basically, he lived off his childrens back.
