‘DWTS’ Semifinals: Who Topped The Leaderboard Tonight?
The DWTS Semifinals just came to a close! The top five couples gave each performance their best shot in hopes of advancing to the Season 32 finale.
For four couples, their wish came true. But for one pair, their time in the ballroom is over.
Fans are excited to see the final four compete for the Mirrorball Trophy next week. But in the meantime, the internet is buzzing over tonight’s routines!
Who topped the leaderboard during the semifinals episode?
DWTS featured multiple perfect scores during the semifinals
As if learning a brand-new dance style wasn’t enough, the top five celebrity contestants had to learn two dances this week. Now that the competition is drawing to a close, the stakes are higher and the routines will become more physically demanding.
Each team gave both routines their best shot. But which couples stood apart from the competition and really impressed the judges?
There were plenty of exciting routines throughout the evening. Marvel actress Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were the first couple of the evening to earn a perfect score for their Samba to “Samba” by Gloria Estefan. But they weren’t the only couple to earn perfect scores.
Singer Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach earned a perfect score for their Paso Doble to “Diablo Rojo” by Rodrigo y Gabriela and earned high praise from the judges. Derek Hough said Jason attempted moves and positions that many previous celebrity contestants wouldn’t do during the Paso Doble.
The Bachelorette star Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev also received a perfect score for their Quickstep to “Boss” by Fifth Harmony as well. And of course, Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov finished off the night with a perfect score for their Foxtrot to “Trampoline” by Shaed & Zayn.
Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy stun audiences and pull ahead again
Although Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy have always been near the top of the leaderboard, they don’t always take the top spot. But tonight, they quickly shot back to the top. After earning a perfect score for their first routine, they also earned a 30/30 for their Waltz to “La Vie en rose” by Lady Gaga.
The routine brought judge Carrie Ann Inaba to tears and said it made her feel like she was transported to a brand new world that she didn’t want to leave. Derek Hough said that the late Len Goodman would have adored the routine. All three judges gave the pair a 10, with little suggestions for improvement.
In a surprise move at the end of the night, the show announced that all five couples would move ahead to the finale. No one was eliminated.
Tune into ABC next Tuesday night at 8 PM Eastern time to catch the exciting Season 32 finale! Who do you think will take home the Mirrorball Trophy? Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more reality television news and updates.
