Johnie Tells All: 'Love is Blind' Star Opens Up

Johnie Maraist joined previous Love is Blind stars Natalie Lee and Deepti Vempati on their podcast Out of the Pods for a behind-the-scenes look into what exactly fell apart when it came to her love triangle with Chris Fox and Izzy Zapata. We all felt the devastation from Johnie when Izzy Zapata chose Stacy Snyder while still in the pods, but Izzy just couldn’t seem to move on from Johnie. While in her interview with Deepti and Natalie, Johnie explains the entire story of her and Chris’s love and when she knew she and Izzy would never work. She also dives into the hostility that was shown at the reunion.

Love is Blind : A Timeline

The Love is Blind universe can be a little tricky, especially in the case of Johnnie Maraist so let’s break it down!

In the Pods

Johnnie and Izzy hit it off on Love Is Blind, and Johnie thinks he might be the one, but she also had quite the connection with Chris.
While in the pods, Johnie is very open that she has been married before and that it did not work out, and for a period of time, she thought she may just not be “relationship” material.
Izzy and Chris have a conversation about Izzy, which leads to Chris breaking things off with Johnie.
Izzy breaks things off with Johnie to propose to Stacy.
Johnie leaves the pods alone.

Out of the Pods

Johnie runs into Chris at the airport leaving production and claims the “connection” was still there and very strong.

Johnie and Chris continue a relationship while the rest of the cast have returned from their Mexico vacations to some troubles with friends and family back home.
Izzy and Stacy are having some rocky conversations but are planning to go through with the wedding.
Milton and Johnie have remained friends, and Johnie shares that she may still have feelings for Izzy. At this meeting, Milton fills Johnnie in that she shouldn’t trust Izzy. At the bachelor and bachelorette parties, that didn’t air this season, Izzy had another woman at his.
Chris and Johnie receive invites to a cast barbeque, and Johnie has hesitations about going. In the end, the couple decides to go.

The Infamous Barbeque

Here, Izzy and Johnnie sit down for a conversation where Izzy says, “I heard a lot of sketchy stuff about you.” Following this statement, an argument starts between the two.
After hearing Johnie’s side of the story Izzy, continues to attack her and call her “sketchy”, which leads to Johnie walking away from the conversation to find Chris.
Chris comforts her and tells her not to listen to “someone who just wants to hurt you.” Chris and Izzy leave the party, their relationship still intact.

Wedding Day

With only two couples going through to standing at the altar the air is tense.
Izzy and Stacy make it to the alter where Izzy says yes but to everyone’s surprise Stacy says no.

Reunion

The reunion opens with the two couples who made it to the alter in the hot seats.
Izzy and Stacy admit that they are no longer together and don’t plan on getting back together.
Chris and Johnie step into the reunion, and we learn that the weekend after the barbeque at a wedding out of town, Chris started seeing someone else without letting Johnie know they were done.
Chris is now living with the girl that he cheated on Johnie with.
Here, Stacy opens up about the things that she heard that Johnie was saying about her behind her back. While Stacy is explaining this, Johnie and Chris are chatting to themselves.
Johnie admits she may have been a little petty after Izzy broke up with her.
We see a behind-the-scenes look at a disagreement between Izzy and Stacy going against Johnie. The insulting ends with Izzy and Stacy leaving Johnie in tears.
Izzy apologizes for his mistakes in how he delivered what he said but continues to add that he does not apologize for what he truly said. Then he admits that he and Johnie got back together two weeks after he and Stacy had left the altar. A kiss was shared.

Out of the Pods Podcast

Once Johnie had her open mic moment on Out of the Pods she shared with Lee and Deepti all of the drama that ensued post-reunion of Love Is Blind. Leaving her relationship with Milton in shambles after he shared his disappointment in her sharing the information with Izzy that he told her in confidence. She had asked Izzy to clarify why Milton would say such a thing, and Izzy, of course, denied it ever happened.

Johnie also revealed a text she got from Chris when she thought they were still together, but her friend saw him making it with someone else. She shared saying, “He said, ‘I’m sorry. I really am. Everything I told you was the truth. I wanted to be with you. I see my life with you in the future and know it would be perfect. You’re amazing. I don’t know what it is and I tried to work through it, but I have this anxiety with you and with the show. I just fell back to what I know and I apologize,’

After releasing all of the untold information in her crazy Love is Blind timeline Johnie went on to say she is in a very happy relationship and is expecting a ring on her finger any day now. Her name is Alex Yovanovic., who was actually recruited for the show, but turned it down. Johnie had her time to tell all about her experience on the Netflix series, and she did not disappoint!
