For decades, Whoopi Goldberg was known as a comedian and Oscar-winning actress. Then, she made the leap to the table at the long-running opinion-based talk show, The View. There, she became the moderator and has shared her controversial thoughts since 2007. Currently, Goldberg, her daughter, and granddaughter are in the process are starting up a company called Emma & Clyde. Additionally, Whoopi is recovering from a bout with Covid which kept her from the Season 27 premiere. Now, she is opening up about a life-changing surgery.

According to The Sun, Whoopi Goldberg may have made changes but she has actually opted to go backward. Here is why and what happened. On Monday, September 11th, Goldberg spoke on The View podcast to explain why she looked a little different. It had been noted that the moderator had brought her glasses back as part of her wardrobe. She decided to share why she did it with Brian Teta, executive producer of the show. Back in March 2023, Goldberg underwent cataract surgery.

This erased the need for her to wear her spectacles but somehow, her face felt like it was missing something. She understands that there is some confusion as to why she is occasionally seen with glasses.”I need to clear the glasses thing up. I got my eyes fixed so I can see and I can read stuff, but I miss wearing glasses,” Whoopi explained. However, she still puts on her frames when she is reading certain things. Therefore, she has moments where she genuinely forgets to take them off.

The Controversy

Of course, eagle-eyed The View fans notice when Whoopi Goldberg is with or without her glasses and make note of it. They appear to not understand if she needs them or doesn’t. As Whoopi explains, there are times when she will keep them on, simply because she has no idea she is still wearing them. Then, the show films, and suddenly it hits her. More so, she openly admits that she does like wearing her glasses. It seems to be a part of who she is and her identity.

Though she does really love her glasses style, fans were impressed when she had a bare face. They immediately commented on her skin and how beautiful she was. Yes, they thought she was beautiful both ways but it was a nice change. At the end of the day, as ling as she feels good in her skin, that is all that matters.
