‘American Idol’ Fans Disappointed With Sunday’s Live Show, What Happened?
American Idol fans are disappointed with Sunday’s live show. They took to social media by storm. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, host Ryan Seacrest teased some major changing coming to the show’s stage. However, fans noticed other changes that made the show unbearable to watch. Keep on reading to learn more.
ABC airs a three-hour-long episode
On Sunday night (April 23), ABC aired a three-hour-long episode of American Idol. This made it hard for most of the viewers to watch. They mostly didn’t like that they had to sit through the entire episode to vote until the end. Sunday’s episode cut the competition down from 26 singers to 20.
The show aired with host Ryan Seacrest and celebrity judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. This was the first live show of the season. This included a new Idol stage and more changes. However, fans weren’t impressed with the new format.
They were disappointed by the longer-than-usual format. The episode also included performances by past AI winners HunterGirl and Noah Thompson. Legendary Motown artist Smokey Robinson also performed. By the end of the night, six contestants had to go home.
This brought American Idol into the 11:00 p.m. ET hour. The remaining 20 singers will compete in the two-hour episode on Monday night. Ryan announced the Top 20 and said that fans will have to vote for the other two on the following night.
There was more filler than usual during the episode. Fans grew tired by the end of the night. Some mustered up the energy to vote for the Top 12. It was also hard to keep track of which contestant they liked since it was a longer-than-usual episode.
American Idol fans bash live episode
Most of the outrage took place on Twitter during the live episode. Once fans noticed in the program guide that it was a three-hour episode, they were disappointed. They didn’t want to sit through the filler. Here are just some of the disappointing comments from American Idol fans.
- “Are all 26 there tonight or only half? I’m so confused and how is this 3 hours?”
- “All these commercials. No wonder it’s 3 hours long!”
- “Why is #AmericanIdol 3 hours tonight?”
- “Two hours of American Idol is painful much less THREE. Even a fan can’t say they really want to see 3 hours of it.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that American Idol had a three-hour episode. They’ve aired them in the past as well. What are your thoughts? Do you agree with the disappointed American Idol fans? Sound off below in the comment section.
