How Al Roker & Craig Melvin came together
On Friday’s broadcast of the Today Show, Al Roker and Craig Melvin both wore Kansas City Chiefs jerseys. They came together to support the team. The hosts took part in a Super Bowl segment of the talk show. Their co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Sheinelle Jones wore Philadelphia Eagles jerseys.
Meanwhile, Carson Daly dressed up as a referee in the signature black-and-white striped jersey. The co-hosts took part in a friendly game of Super Bowl trivia. Al and Craig teamed up during the segment. They had to guess as many correct answers as possible. The two even got along despite all their riffing on the show.
Today Show co-hosts have spicey arguments
Craig and Al Roker have become known for arguing with one another. During Friday’s show, Al admitted that Craig is actually cheap when it comes to the Super Bowl. Craig pointed at him and admitted his own fault. He said that the weatherman wasn’t wrong about that.
During the show, the co-anchors spoke to business and data reporter Brian Chung. They talked about how much Americans plan to spend on Super Bowl Sunday. Brian shocked the co-anchors when he admitted that the average American spends $18 on a hot dog and beer.
Craig called the high price “shameful.” He argued that “they should throw in the hot dog.” Al called him out for not allowing his kid to eat at the game. He shared that Craig is the type of parent who would bring snacks from home.
Al Roker slams Craig for being “hip”
In a previous segment, Al Roker called out Craig for trying to be “hip” with the younger generation. Craig couldn’t stop using the slang word “boo” during a cooking segment. He was talking about inexpensive meals to make for Valentine’s Day. Craig referred to a loved one as their “boo.”
His repetitious comments made his co-hosts crack up. Al Roker said: “This is what happens when you try to be hip.”
He also called out Craig in another Valentine’s Day segment. What are your thoughts on Al Roker and Craig calling a truce on the Today Show? Do you think it will last? Who did you root for on Sunday? Sound off below in the comment section.
