Is Elvis’ Granddaughter Riley Keough Really Singing In ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’?
Daisy Jones & The Six Is premiering soon on Amazon Prime. Already, the previews have been released including the first song, “Regret Me.” Does Riley Keough, daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley, and granddaughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley really sing in this series?
We have that news and more.
Does Riley Keough Sing Her Own Vocals In Daisy Jones & The Six?
Riley Keough told Vanity Fair that she wanted to play Daisy Jones. However, there was an issue. Although her grandfather was Elvis, her late mother Lisa Marie Presley, and her late mother’s ex-husband the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, she did not sing in public. Her father, Danny Keough is also a musician. Therefore, people may expect that she had a lot of practice singing songs, with so many other musicians around to collaborate with.
However, that was not the case. Riley was a shower singer. She didn’t perform in public. But, there was not going to be any “dubbing” in this movie. Everyone had to sing their songs and perform their instruments.
When she sent the producers a video of her tamely singing a Fleetwood Mac song, they told her she needed to “belt” out a song. Keough worked with a vocal coach and came back with a powerful version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and she was in.
How The Pandemic Was An Advantage To Stars of Amazon Series
Right before the pandemic shut down the world, and the Amazon Prime production, Claflin revealed, “We had all just got to LA and we all had our first sort of get-together.” However, after their bonding dinner, they all went back home. The Enola Holmes star called it “frustrating.” However, it wound up being the best thing for the cast.
During the year apart, Sam revealed that they had weekly Zoom meetings. They got into the whole 70s band vibe. Most of all, they all practiced.
By the time we got back out to Los Angeles June of last year, I think we were all so pumped and so excited to see one another—and we’d all improved so massively musically—that we then immediately just sort of gelled as a band.
The cast was to play all of their own instruments. Now, they got better with all of the time off, and it paid off when they reunited, filmed, and recorded the soundtrack.
Was Daisy Jones & The Six Based On A Real Band?
Although author Taylor Jenkins Reid wanted to create a story influenced by Fleetwood Mac during their Rumours days. However, the characters in Daisy Jones & The Six are all a work of fiction.
Daisy Jones & The Six premieres on Friday, March 3 with three episodes of the 10 episodes mini-series. Amazon Prime will drop new episodes for five consecutive Fridays.
