‘Counting On’ Star Maryella Hope Duggar Debuts First Family Gathering
Counting On fans know that Anna and Josh Duggar welcomed their baby girl Maryella Hope at Thanksgiving. For that reason, Anna didn’t go along to the main Duggar Thanksgiving celebration. But now, the little girl made her debut at a Duggar family gathering when she turned five-days-old.
Counting On Duggar family night honors Mary Duggar, Maryella’s namesake
TV Shows Ace reported that Josh and Anna took some time to choose the name for their daughter. They narrowed down a long list of hyphenated Mary names. Finally, they settled on Maryella to honor Grandmother Mary, and Hope, because of all the children coming to the extended Duggar family this year. Fans of the TLC show know that Mary passed away accidentally this year when she hit her head by the swimming pool.
USA Today covered the death of Mary in June. The outlet reported that Mary, who often made appearances on the TLC reality show, passed away from an accidental drowning.
The cause of death was confirmed by the County Coroner. And, now the Duggars gathered together for their annual Ugly Sweater Party. This year, they mainly reflected on Mary Duggar and the precious memories they have of her. Anna said that Maryella joined the family for the occasion.
Anna Duggar shares about Marylella Hope’s family event debut
On her Instagram, Anna shared two comparison photos: One from last year, and one from this year. They were part of their Christmas greetings to their fans and friends. Last year’s image shows Mary and the new one shows Maryella Hope. Anna captioned it with, “Everyone had a great time at our 2nd annual @duggarfam #UglySweaterParty!”
Anna confirmed that the Counting On grandmother was the focus. She wrote, “We reflected on last year when Great-Grandma Mary Duggar was here with us and all the precious memories we made then.”
Obviously, the Duggars feel the loss of Mary very keenly this Christmas. After all, it’s the first one without her. Anna added, “A great reminder that we don’t always know what a year may hold…so cherish every moment this CHRISTmas season! Little Maryella Hope made her debut (at 5 days old) for her first #familynight with the big family…and she seemed to enjoy it so much! Our kiddos had a blast getting dressed up and spending time together with everyone while enjoying good fellowship, food and fun! Thanks to @duggarfam @jessaseewald and @janamduggar for making this so much fun tonight!”
