Aubrey Plaza brings goofiness to the Today Show

The comedian made an appearance on the Today Show. Craig Melvin interviewed Aubrey Plaza during a live broadcast back in 2021. She brought goofiness to the morning show by dressing up in a witch’s costume. Craig was distracted by her appearance as he made funny expressions and couldn’t stop laughing.

The Today Show shared a video of Aubrey’s throwback appearance on Twitter. They mentioned the actress because of the hit HBO Max series White Lotus. The social media account mentioned the time when she showed up to the talk show dressed as a “Christmas witch” and this moment is still on their minds.

The clip was also shared on TikTok after the interview. During the time, guest host Maria Shriver asked Aubrey about her outfit. She admitted that she wanted to dress up as the character that’s in her children’s book. Aubrey continued to make expressions while sitting in her seat. Then, she let out a breath as she went off on a tangent.

“Well, I don’t choose these things. I am chosen by the Christmas witch,” Aubrey said. “She appeared to me in a dream, and I just knew I had to get her story out.”

The camera showed Craig Melvin’s expression during that moment. He couldn’t believe what he just heard. He stuck his tongue out at the camera. The co-host tried not to laugh during Aubrey’s interview.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work. Al Roker sat next to Craig during the interview. The moment that Craig tried to laugh, Al started cracking up as well. The laughter was so contagious it made viewers laugh. When Aubrey explained to the co-hosts that her dream was a hallucination, Craig couldn’t speak during the interview.

Craig Melvin threw shade at another guest

This isn’t the first time that Craig Melvin has shaded another guest. Outlander actor Sam Heughan appeared on the Today Show to discuss his book, Waypoints: My Scottish Journey. The conversation shifted to Sam’s “ninety-six-mile trek” in the Scottish Highlands. He admitted that he struggled with an eating disorder after dealing with the pressures from Hollywood.

At the end of the interview, Sam was asked about auditioning for the role of James Bond before the part went to Daniel Craig. Craig Melvin exclaimed: “You should have gotten it! You should have been Bond!” Some fans thought he shaded the English actor. Sam said that the producers didn’t want to go with a “younger Bond” this time around.
