The Today Show mourns a tragic death
Mark Traub, a longtime former stage manager and director of NBC’s The Today Show has passed away. Katie Couric was among the first to pen a beautiful tribute to Mark this morning. Katie revealed that the former stage manager passed away after losing a lengthy battle with leukemia.
She penned in a tribute attached to a photo of herself embracing her late friend: “I loved Mark and we remained friends after we both left the show. He was the one who you could hear laughing in the background (even when the jokes weren’t that funny) and was really the heart and soul of Today.”
Mark was also tremendously helpful when I was writing my book. I am sending all my love to his wonderful wife Lisa. Thank you Mark for being such a kind, decent, intelligent and caring man. You were great at your job and great at this thing called life. Enjoy yours, everyone. Things can change in an instant.”
Outside of what is being mentioned in his tributes from former co-workers, not much is known about his death at this time.
