How Was Robyn Brown Introduced To The ‘Sister Wives’ Family?
This season, Sister Wives has remained very tumultuous. Christine has left the family, Meri remains ostracized, and most fans blame Robyn Brown. However, some newer fans might wonder how Robyn joined the family in the first place.
Here is a look at who brought Robyn into the family and why that might have backfired on the entire family.
Who brought Robyn Brown into the Sister Wives’ family?
Meri Brown was Kody’s first wife. She grew up in a polygamist family and met Kody at church when she was 18. The two got married in 1990 and planned on starting their own polygamist family. That led to Janelle, who Kody married after only one date, and then Christine, who he married after just six weeks of courtship.
Robyn Brown had already been married once to David Preston Jessop, Christine’s cousin. The two had three kids, but they divorced before they could add to their own polygamist family. Robyn then met Kody when she visited her cousin’s church. Kody admitted that he and Meri met Robyn, and both thought she would be a great addition to the family.
It was Meri who then brought up the idea of adding Robyn to the family as a fourth wife. There are some thoughts that Meri felt disenfranchised from her own husband thanks to the newer wives, and she wanted them to see what she felt by bringing in someone new. Robyn and Kody dated for six months before she agreed to join the family.
Why did Meri bring Robyn into the family?
Fans on Reddit looked at the fact Meri basically brought Robyn into the family, only to watch it disintegrate around her. The OP of the thread brought up three likely reasons Meri did this. First, they felt Meri realized Kody found Robyn attractive and wanted to be the good wife to bring her in. They referred to it as “dog brings in dead squirrel.”
Second, they felt Meri might have more influence over Kody since she was who brought in Robyn. Finally, she wanted to see Christine and Janelle suffer as she did after Kody entered relationships with them. That backfired when Kody divorced Meri so he could legally adopt Robyn’s children. He has since said he no longer considers Meri as a “wife.”
However, another commenter felt Kody knew from the start he wanted Robyn and he “roped Meri in so that the wives wouldn’t just be upset with him.” Interestingly, another commenter claimed that a documentary about the family saw Christine saying that TLC wanted four wives on the show, and Robyn was that choice. “I think Robyn and Meri got along so Meri thought she could be an ally and Kody liked her so she was a good fit,” they wrote.
