‘Below Deck’ Captain Lee Rosbach Explains Rehiring Issues
Below Deck Captain Lee Rosbach explained the rehiring woes associated with the show. TV Shows Ace previously asked why the franchise is struggling to find a replacement after OG chief stews Kate Chastain and Hannah Ferrier.
For some reason, both of their replacements haven’t stuck around for long. They weren’t a big hit with fans as their predecessors were. In a new interview, Captain Lee explained why the Bravo series failed to find a replacement.
He also suggests that the former cast members should return together. That is unlikely to happen though since the ladies had a falling out over the years.
Does Below Deck have a chief stew problem?
For some reason, producers have failed to find a replacement who could fill the shoes of Kate Chastain on Below Deck and Hannah Ferrier on Below Deck Mediterranean. Captain Lee Rosbach made an appearance on Hannah’s podcast Dear Reality, You’re Effed. He admitted that both of them were so good at their jobs it was hard to find someone else on that level.
“It’s hard to find a Hannah,” Captain Lee explained. “And it’s hard to find a Kate. The two of you were extremely unique. One in the Med, one in the Caribbean, and other places. Since Kate left and since you left, they’ve obviously tried to find people to fill your slot.”
So far, the show hasn’t had much luck. Natasha Webber made her debut on Season 7 of Below Deck Med and received criticism for everything from her poor work ethic and messy love life. On Season 10 of Below Deck, Fraser Olender became the first male chief stew.
He’s a likely contender to replace Kate since he’s become a fan favorite. However, he’s been struggling with his job ever since the charter season started. Fans are holding out hope that he won’t let his crew down. Fraser admitted his fault for not being strict with the interior team.
Should Kate Chastain and Hannah Ferrier return together?
Captain Lee said he would like to see Kate Chastain and Hannah Ferrier return as Below Deck guests. Not as chief stews. Hannah agreed with him. She admitted that she would only return to the Med if she was a guest.
Captain already knows how it should play out on the show. He thinks the women should rekindle their friendship and return together on a charter. Hannah joked that she and Kate would both be “very good at drinking the rosé.” Captain Lee says he loves their quick wit and personalities and that it would make a fun charter.
Plus, they would be the easier charter guests that Below Deck had. It seems like more difficult and high-maintenance guests are joining the franchise in droves.
