‘Bringing Up Bates’ Fans School Kelly Bates On Wedding Etiquette
Bringing Up Bates fans have a lot to say after seeing Kelly Bates’ behavior at a recent wedding. Now, she’s being schooled online over proper wedding etiquette. What did she do that has fans all fired up? Keep reading for all of the details.
In case you missed it, on October 1, Kelly’s son, Trace Bates married Lydia Romeike. This is the 11th Bates wedding of Gil and Kelly’s 19 children. So, they have been involved in planning and attending many weddings over the years. With so much experience, fans would assume that the Bates matriarch would be a pro at wedding planning and etiquette in general.
Despite so much experience, Bringing Up Bates fans feel that Kelly’s actions fell short. When Trace and Lydia’s wedding ceremony video went live this weekend, fans flooded social media with concerns about what Kelly did during the event.

On Reddit, fans brought up something that they noticed in Trace and Lydia’s wedding video. While watching the video, numerous fans spotted Kelly with her phone out during the ceremony. It looks like she was busy snapping photos and recording videos.
One fan claimed that Kelly “ruined” the video by having her phone out. After all, Trace and Lydia hired professional photographers and videographers for their special day. So, they didn’t really need family and friends to take photos during the ceremony. Guests could simply enjoy the wedding and leave the photography to the professionals.
Another Bringing Up Bates fan pointed out, “Also it was so ironic as Gil was literally talking about the importance of putting your phone down.”
Someone else added, “Agree all i saw was her big head sitting there with her phone up and recording it took away from the video sorry not sorry ..”
“I understand wanting to get photos – but geez almighty, be discrete and try to be in the moment to enjoy it! Let the professionals who are being paid take the photos,” another Bringing Up Bates fan said.
