‘Bringing Up Bates’ Kelly Jo Bates Laughs Off Awkward Blunder

Kelly Jo Bates introduces her newest grandchild
This week, Esther and Nathan Bates welcomed their first child, Kenna Joy, to the world. They excitedly shared the news with fans via social media on October 19 and revealed she was born on October 17. She’s a healthy little girl and is already very loved.
Just a few days before Kenna’s arrival, Kelly Jo was spotted in Arkansas, which is where Nathan and Esther lived. She was able to attend the birth of her newest grandchild.
After Kenna’s birth, several family members, including Kelly Jo, took to social media to celebrate her birth.
Below, you can see one of the photos Kelly Jo included, which features a sign with Kenna’s name, birth date, and other information. Note that her birthday is listed as October 16 on the wooden sign that her grandmother shared.
Bringing Up Bates fans spot an inconsistency
In a comment, a fan pointed out that a photo in Kelly Jo’s post said the baby was born on October 16. However, when Esther and Nathan announced their daughter’s birth, they said her birthday was October 17. The fan congratulated the family on their new addition but questioned the inconsistent date mentioned.
Despite being publicly called out, Kelly Jo laughed off her mistake. In response to the fan’s comment, the Bringing Up Bates matriarch explained, “Lol! I wrote that! I must have had Isaiah’s birthday on my mind and messed up!!”
Kelly Jo’s son, Isaiah, turned 18 the day before Kenna was born.
The Bringing Up Bates fan totally understood the mix-up and didn’t think anything of it. They know that Kelly Jo has a lot going on and many birthdays to remember with 19 kids, plus all of the in-laws and grandchildren, too.
Kelly Jo then edited her Instagram caption, adding:
“Ok, ignore the sign that says Oct 16th! Granny brain freeze lol! I was writing the sign and all day we had been talking about Isaiah’s 18th birthday on October 16th… so guess what ended up on Kenna’s sign?! I didn’t even realize it until someone just pointed it out… so October is going to be a very busy month for me to try to keep straight, but Kenna was actually born on the 17th like the post says.”
