Whoopi Goldberg clapped back at the criticism of her new film, Till. The Oscar winner is getting candid about her real body. She lashed out at a movie critic who accused her of wearing a fat suit in her new project. Whoopi shut down the writer and said she wasn’t wearing one.

On Monday’s broadcast of The View, the comedian talked candidly about her new role. The biopic follows the life of American activist Mamie Till. Whoopi plays the role of Alma Carthan. She called out the woman who focused more on her body rather than her acting abilities.

Responds to body criticism

Whoopi Goldberg clapped back over the criticism over her “distracting fat suit.” She denied the claim and confirmed that it was her real body in the movie. The critic talked about Whoopi’s body in a scathing review of her movie Till on The Daily Beast.

The actress feels the writer should’ve done their homework. She doesn’t understand why the person assumed she was wearing a fat suit. Whoopi doesn’t appreciate being criticized over her size.

“I have to say something because there was a young lady who writes for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my ‘fat suit’ in her review,” Whoopi Goldberg told her co-hosts. “I’m just going to say this, I don’t really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me. And that was steroids.”

The Color Purple star wondered if the writer has ever watched an episode of The View. She has no issue with people not liking the movie. That’s not the issue. Whoopi feels that the writer wasn’t trying to be “demeaning.”

During the time of filming, Whoopi Goldberg was prescribed steroids to help with her sciatica. Wearing a fat suit in a film has become a controversy over the last few years. Most of the criticism is associated with naturally thin actresses portraying larger characters. Some feel that wearing prosthetics and fat suits is an effort to”mock fat people.”

Last month, Whoopi Goldberg admitted that she was ahead of the beauty trends. The 66-year-old shared the real reason why she doesn’t have eyebrows. She couldn’t keep a straight face as she talked about Kendall Jenner, Doja Cat, and Lady Gaga who have embraced the “no-brow look.”

This isn’t something new for Whoopi Goldberg. She’s done it since she was a little girl. The reason why she has no eyebrows is that she would get bumps on her skin. Her co-host Sara Haines admitted she “never noticed” Whoopi had no brows.
