‘The Masked Singer’ Season 8 Release Date, What To Know
The Masked Singer returns this week, and it will look very different from what fans saw in the past. However, the main fun of the show is seeing celebrities in elaborate and innovative costumes singing songs. The panelists and fans at home can then guess who is behind the mask.
Here is what you need to know about The Masked Singer Season 8.
The Masked Singer Season 8 release date
The Masked Singer returns to its home on Fox on Wednesday night, September 21, at 8/7c. The show will air every Wednesday night after that in the same time slot. The good news is if you miss it and don’t have the DVR set to record it, it replays on FOX NOW, Hulu, and Tubi.
Who is on The Masked Singer this season?
The panelists are the same as they have been since the start. There are four people on the panel, and their job is to talk to the singers, ask some questions, and most importantly, make educated guesses on who is behind the mask. In the case of Ken Jeong, the guesses are not quite as smart, as he has the most off-the-cuff picks in the show’s history.
The other three judges include Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger. The bad news is that, while these panelists are back, the fun Golden Ear trophy for guessing the right person on first impressions is gone, likely for good. Not only that but changes to the formatting of the show makes these guesses mean almost nothing this season.
Nick Cannon is back as the host. There will also be some special guests joining the panel this season including Leslie Jordan, Joel McHale, Jon Lovitz, Andrew Lloyd Webber, the Muppets (really), Will Arnett, Carrot Top, The Blue Man Group (they talk?), Lance Bass, Jodie Sweetin, Carrot Top, Danielle Fishel, Donny Osmond, Tori Spelling, Drew Carey, and Sheila E.
Changes on The Masked Singer this season
There are some major changes coming to The Masked Singer this season. Debating through the season on who is under the masks is no longer important for the show. That is because there will be three masked singers each week, and two will unmask every single night. That means only one moves on, and the other will end up in the semifinals.
However, there will be a lot more varied singers this year because there will be 22 Masked Singer contestants. At three a week, that means seven weeks for the first-round eliminations and one extra to fit in somewhere. Things might get interesting when there are seven singers left at the end, and maybe then the guessing game will return.
