Josh & Anna Duggar Blindly Married Each Other?
Former 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On stars Josh and Anna Duggar have been married for over a decade. But now, fans and critics are going back in time and looking at their relationship. Many are starting to wonder how well they knew each other when they got married.
Might they have gone into their marriage blindly?
Josh & Anna Duggar’s Relationship
Josh and Anna tied the knot on September 26, 2008. They got engaged just a few months prior on June 23, 2008. They then went on to have seven kids together. Their oldest daughter, Mackynzie, is 12 years old, and their youngest child, Madyson, is eight months old.
Their other kids include Michael, Marcus, Meredith, Mason, and Maryella.
Now, Josh and Anna Duggar’s marriage looks much different. He’s now been convicted of child pornography charges and was sentenced to 12 years behind bars.
Amid all of this Duggar fans have dug up some interesting details about Josh and Anna’s marriage.
On Reddit, one Duggar snarker posted about Josh and Anna’s old website. The post they referenced is about how Josh and Anna Duggar’s relationship began.
The story of the couple meeting began with Anna seeing the family on TLC and specifically noticing 16-year-old Josh. Eventually, they had the opportunity to meet each other in person.
She said that she thought he was different than anyone she had met before. However, because the Duggars lived in Arkansas and the Kellers were in Florida, she wasn’t hopeful they would see each other again.
Anna said that her family traveled from Florida to Texas for a homeschool conference. While spending time with the Duggars there, she got to know Josh better. She wrote, “I felt God was showing me that Joshua was the one I would marry someday.”
Did They Marry Blindly?
Josh and Anna Duggar’s relationship began not too long after this. Josh was invited to Florida by Anna’s brother so they could offer a seminar at the Florida State Prison. The invitation came in December 2007. Anna later stated that she didn’t know if Josh liked her or not.
Eventually, Josh asked Anna’s father for permission to court her and they began their relationship. Then, just a few months later, in June 2008, Josh proposed.
On Reddit, Duggar fans and critics are weighing in. One says, “Visiting Josh and Anna’s old website shows how LITTLE they knew each other before getting engaged.”
Another chimes in, “I cannot imagine going from ‘does this guy even like me’ to immediately engaged.”
Someone else adds, “Anna basically had the equivalent of a 13-year old crush on Josh. Spoke to him, what like three times? She thought he was a freakin’ celebrity. He was her Christian Justin Bieber. She didn’t know the real him at all. And then one day Josh showed up with I love you balloons and asked her to marry him???? ??????”
