Outstanding Game Show ‘Jeopardy!’ Could Still Have Multiple Hosts?
Jeopardy! producers might still need more than one host. They revealed they hope to make an announcement soon. That doesn’t sound positive for the game show, which has been looking for a host since Alex Trebek’s tragic death in 2020.
Trebek hosted the game show on his own during his tenure. For much of Season 37, a series of celebrities tried out their shot to become the next host. It’s currently down to Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, who has fans split on their different hosting styles.
There are also rumors that former champ Buzzy Cohen could become the new host even though he never tested for the game show.
Named Best Outstanding Game Show at Daytime Emmys
The Daytime Emmys aired on Friday, June 24. During the award show, Jeopardy! was named Best Outstanding Game Show. What fans found interesting was that only Jennings was included in the clips and photos. They wonder if it means that he will become the new permanent host.
The win comes on the heels of a controversial Season 38. Earlier on in the season, Mike Richards, the show’s executive producer, almost ended up with the coveted position. He then stepped down after he was exposed for his inappropriate comments and the way he tried to get the hosting gig. The controversy caused him to get fired from both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!

After his firing, Jennings and Bialik traded off their hosting responsibilities. Bialik has received more criticism than Jennings. There have also been many champs who fans have been rooting. One of the most controversial was Megan Wachspress, who had fans criticizing her lucky streak instead.
Now, Jeopardy! fans are just tired and want to know who will become the new host. The new executive producer has spoken out and shared that they are positive they will reach a decision soon. Does that mean they don’t have anyone in mind?
Jeopardy! EP teases announcement will come “very, very soon”
Per Variety, Jeopardy! will share an announcement about the new permanent host soon. This fits in with the timeline of the Season 38 finale, which is in July 2022. Executive producer Mike Davies simply said they “hope to make a hosting announcement very, very soon.” He teased that not one person will end up with the job. In fact, they’re going to need as much help as they can get.
“But with all of our plans for Jeopardy!–which is more Jeopardy!, not less, more versions–we’re going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience, to represent the entire country, in order to take this franchise forward,” Davies added.
This comes amid the rumors that Bialik could end up as the host of Celebrity Jeopardy! Meanwhile, fans think Cohen will be the host of the Tournament of Champions. As Davies’ hinted, there are more variations to come. So, with that means more hosting positions to offer.
