Sad Way ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Memorabilia Will Be Discarded?
The Wendy Williams Show officially ended after 14 years on Friday, June 17. The show said goodbye without the original host. Wendy refused to make an appearance during the finale episode. She didn’t appreciate the way the showrunners handled her difficult situation.
Sadly, Wendy had to take a step back in September 2021 due to her ongoing health issues. Yet, she promised a return to television. Meanwhile, production moved on without her. They’re already tearing down the set and getting rid of her memorabilia, including her iconic, big purple chair. Find out what they’re doing with some of these items.
Iconic TV memorabilia is considered trash
Production is reportedly throwing out all of Wendy Williams’ memorabilia, including her wigs and purple chair. The daytime TV queen can’t return to the set to fetch those items if she wanted to. However, Wendy Williams did make a brief return to New York City last month. She was determined to make her return back to television.
However, it’s unclear whether she’s still been in town since then. An insider close to the production team told The Sun that all of her memorabilia will end up in the trash. This comes after the show’s somber finale on Friday. Production has started tearing down the set, as they make way for Sherri Shepherd’s new talk show.
As TV Shows Ace previously reported, fans are upset with the showrunners. They feel that they did Wendy Williams dirty by getting rid of her show. She hasn’t returned to her namesake show for almost a year. To further add to the burn, production couldn’t wait any longer for Wendy to come and collect her items.
“The wigs are still there since she didn’t come and get them so they’re being thrown out,” an insider told The Sun. “The chair is just going to be thrown out. Production is not even bothering to try to donate the chair to a museum-like The View did with their original table after 10 years. They gave it to the Smithsonian.”
Wendy Williams is in hiding
Meanwhile, Wendy Williams is in hiding. At first, she stayed in Florida with her family and her son, Kevin Hunter Jr, who was taking care of her. Wendy made a brief return to NYC last month and even attended a Met Gala after-party with a male friend. As previously mentioned, she didn’t make an appearance on the final episode of The Wendy Williams Show.
Fans want to know where the television personality has been hiding since. After a series of guest hosts filled in for her for several months, Sherri commanded high ratings and scored her own talk show. The tribute montage wasn’t as long as fans hoped it would be and didn’t include all of Wendy’s iconic moments. It lasted seven minutes and felt like an afterthought.
