Katie Maloney Goes On First Date, Enjoying Meeting New People

Katie Maloney revealed she went on her first date. The Vanderpump Rules star enjoys meeting new people. While she’s not in a rush to jump into another relationship after ending her marriage, she loves mingling right now. The Bravo star shared an update on her love life and how she’s navigating it after her split from Tom Schwartz.

In March, both Katie and Schwartz took to their respective Instagram accounts to share the news with their fans and followers. A week later, Katie filed for divorce after they were together for 12 years. Katie and Tom first married in 2016 and tied the knot again in Las Vegas, both of which were featured on Vanderpump Rules.

Katie Maloney opens up on her dating life

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Katie Maloney appeared on The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. She shared her biggest struggles while ending her marriage to Schwartz. The VPR cast member says she’s not “trying to get a boyfriend.” She just enjoys getting to know someone.

“I like going out, flirting, or like, I’ve been on a date,” Katie Maloney confirmed in the interview,  per People.

The reality star said she’s staying off the dating app for now. She would rather meet people organically. Katie likes to socialize and meet those she’s interested in. It’s been a good distraction from their split, which she calls “sad” and “heartbreaking.” Yet, she feels that it was necessary for her own happiness.

“It was… it gutted me,” Katie Maloney added. “But I think just leaning in and trusting your gut and listening to that because it’s about, always about, the relationship with yourself and nurturing that.”

It took her several months to mull over their split. At the time, she never told anyone how she was feeling. Katie kept these feelings to herself until she spoke to Schwartz about it. The You’re Gonna Love Me podcast host wanted to share the news with her friends and family before it leaked in the tabloids.

The status of her relationship with Tom Schwartz

Thankfully, Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz have had an easier split than most married couples do. They became better friends because of it. Katie and Schwartz are still living together. In that same interview, Katie shared an update on the status of their relationship.

They remained friends and have worked with one another. It makes sense since they follow in the same social circles. It’s also how Katie and Schwartz started dating. The former couple will also split custody of their two dogs.

“We still do things together,” Katie Maloney admitted. “We have some of the same group of friends, and we have dogs that we’re gonna split custody of… He’s family to me, and I’m always going to love him, so our friendship is very important to both of us.”
