‘Unexpected’: Chloe Mendoza Shares Casting Call For Teen Moms, Fans React
Unexpected on TLC brings us young teen moms and their partners. Chloe Mendoza and her baby daddy Max appear in the current season, along with their baby Ava. We saw an up-and-down situation with this young couple, as Chloe’s mom wants Max to have nothing to do with the baby. Plus, Chloe seems a bit reluctant to encourage Max to stay with addiction therapy. Now, Chloe has shared a new casting call for teen moms, and fans are reacting to it.
Unexpected on TLC features teen moms Chloe shares new casting call
Fans know that the TLC show features young girls like Chloe and their families struggling with babies. While some people feel awareness about teen pregnancies is important, others criticize the show. In any event, it looks like we can probably expect more from the franchise. Chloe shared about the casting on her Instagram on Monday night. Chloe told her followers, “If you’re expecting and want to share your story email [email protected] with your name, age, due date, location, picture, and a brief bio!”
The actual casting brings some strict rules for applicants. Unexpected fans who are already pregnant, or who plan a pregnancy can’t all apply for it. The requirements for applicants include:
- Being in high school
- Applicants should already be expecting
- They need to be between 14 and 18-years-old
- They need to be due between late February and May 2020
Fans react to the casting call on Instagram
Some fans asked if the casting call is for Unexpected. Some fans agreed it was, with others noting Chloe won’t be on the next season. The advert for the teen moms also noted that “Eastern partnered with a major network to tell the stories of young couples. ” It adds, “they’ll navigate the journey to parenthood and beyond.” Straight away, a follower said they should fall pregnant to get on TV. But, that’s not actually the message the show’s trying to inspire.
Some fans reacted quite negatively towards TLC pushing the teen mom theme. One follower said, “This is wrong to advertise this…teens getting pregnant in the chance they might get famous for 5 minutes on a TV show ..this is shocking.” Another posted, “This is what is wrong with the world.! Smh @chloeemendozaa.” To that, another Unexpected follower said, “I agree, even though I am almost 20, expecting my daughter in December I don’t feel like they should be ‘casting’ for teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy isn’t a game or isn’t a movie.”

But, other people agreed awareness helps to reduce teen pregnancies overall. Also, they feel the more people portrayed dealing with real-life issues might help to stop other kids from reckless behavior. One person noted, “Being a teen mom myself that sh*t is HARD, but there needs to be awareness for teen pregnancy because whether you like it or not, it is always going to happen.” Do you agree with that? or do think the show glamorizes teen pregnancies.
