‘SNL’ Mother’s Day Skit Showcases ‘Mom Hypocrisy’ In Must See Clip
The SNL Mother’s Day skit showcases “mom hypocrisy” in this must-see clip. This is the sketch that mothers of teens will want to watch. Saturday Night Live typically has jokes only millennials would understand. But this latest sketch is perfect for parents who raised teenagers.
SNL salutes mothers of teenagers
If you have a teenager, you’ll want to check out this SNL Mother’s Day skit. On the Saturday, May 7, live episode of Saturday Night Live, Cecily Strong played a mother who had a teenage daughter, played by Chloe Fineman. Her daughter came home drunk from a party.
Strong scolds her daughter for drinking. She explained how disappointed she was in her. Strong tells Fineman that she was never like this when she was a young girl. But, it’s obvious that when kids grow up, they want to act like kids. The skitch also pointed out the “mom’s hypocrisy.”
It showed a flashback of Strong making dumb decisions as a teenager. She even got drunk at a party. Strong was so intoxicated that she threw up. Chumbawamba’s hit ’90s song “Tubthumbing” plays in the background. Strong’s younger teenage self even got into wild moments like hooking up with boys in cars and experimenting with drugs.
SNL cast member Kate McKinnon appeared in the sketch as a grandmother. She talks to her granddaughter while a flashback shows her throwing her underwear onstage at a David Bowie concert. SNL host Benedict Cumberbatch joins the skit by playing a father who admitted that he was also wild in his younger days.
He looked nothing like his Dr. Strange character. He wore a sweater, mustache, and eyeglasses. Every parent of a teenager can relate to this sketch. They don’t want their kids to repeat their past mistakes. At the end of the skit, the following message reads, “You may not have been a perfect person, but you’re the perfect mom.”
