‘1000-Lb. Sisters’: Brittany Combs Has Alopecia, What Is It?
1000-Lb. Sisters fans discovered Chris’ wife Brittany Combs has a medical condition called Alopecia. What is Alopecia? Does this mean Chris’ wife is sick? Keep reading for everything we know about Chris’ Combs wife Brittany and Alopecia.
Who is Brittany Combs?
If you don’t recognize the name, Brittany Combs is the name of Chris’ wife. Chris is the brother of Amy Halterman and Tammy Slaton from TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters. Chris Combs became a regular on the show when he stepped in as the new weight loss buddy for Tammy Slaton after Amy was approved for weight loss surgery.
Chris Combs, like Amy, was fairly successful and doing what the doctor said and dropping weight. So, he ended up leaving his sister in the dust and getting weight loss surgery as well. Fans that are current with the series know Tammy Slaton is current in rehab for food addiction. She claims she’s already lost well over 115 pounds. And, Dr. Smith has promised her surgery will happen if she dips under 500 pounds.
Now, Brittany Combs isn’t really a regular on the show. But, she is featured a lot standing beside and supporting her husband Chris. As Brittany makes more and more appearances on the show beside her husband, fans noticed she always had a headband on top of her head. Some fans began to question why she always had her head covered. 1000-Lb. Sisters fans learned Brittany was religious. But, that wasn’t really why she wore the headband. Turns out, she has a health condition called Alopecia.
What is Alopecia?
Now, it is important to take this information as a grain of salt. There doesn’t appear to be any easy-to-find information to back up that Brittany actually has Alopecia. But, 1000-Lb. Sisters fans on Reddit insist this medical condition is the real reason Brittany always wears those hairbands.
One fan explained in a comment on Reddit: “She has alopecia. The headbands cover up the balding area at the front of her hairline.”
According to WebMD, Alopecia is defined as “an autoimmune disorder that causes your hair to come out, often in clumps the size and shape of a quarter.” Unfortunately, this isn’t a condition with a cure. Likewise, doctors are not sure why this condition happens and the amount of hair loss someone suffers from differs from one person to the next. There, however, are many treatment plans that can help with hair loss.
