Did TLC Canceling Duggars Inspire UPtv To Cancel The Bates?

Fans of the Duggars and the Bates are pretty upset these days. In June of 2021, shortly after Josh Duggar was arrested, TLC canceled Counting On. Fans were devastated to hear that Josh’s actions led to the family’s show being canceled.

Then, on Tuesday, January 18, the news broke that UPtv would not be premiering the new season of Bringing Up Bates. This came as a huge shock because Season 11 was supposed to premiere on February 10, which is less than a month away. The network claims they will be changing their direction.

So, now, fans are left without two of their favorite shows. The news of Bringing Up Bates being canceled is especially a huge shock due to the short notice prior to the new season premiere.

Fans of both families know that they have been friends for years. They both have 19 children each and believe many of the same things. They are a part of the same religion, the Institute of Basic Life Principles (IBLP) and share many of the same values.

Carlin Bates Stewart and Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth are especially close to each other, but many of the other kids have made friends with each other, too.

Could UPtv just be following TLC’s lead?

Right now, UPtv hasn’t revealed too many details about the Bringing Up Bates cancelation and what prompted it. They simply said they are changing directions with their content.

But now, fans are wondering if there’s a chance the Bates family’s cancelation is connected to the Duggars’ show being canceled. After all, the families are friends and have even appeared on each other’s shows over the years.

It’s possible that UPtv doesn’t want to be associated with Josh Duggar, especially after he was found guilty in December. Or maybe UPtv was concerned that the Bates family might have their own secrets to hide. After all, there were things going on behind the scenes with the Duggars.

However, there’s no way to know for sure what happened until UPtv comes out themselves and says something. So, fans will have to wait and see if an answer eventually comes out. It could be purely coincidental that both TLC and UPtv decided to cancel these shows around the same time.

So, do you think that TLC canceling the Duggars encouraged UPtv to move forward and cancel the Bates? Or do you think these two situations are unrelated? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. For more news about the Duggars and Bates families, come back to TV Shows Ace.
