In a shocking announcement on Tuesday, UPtv revealed the cancelation of Bringing Up Bates. This news came just weeks before Season 11 was set to premiere on the channel. In September, UPtv announced Bringing Up Bates had been renewed for its 11th season. It was set to premiere on Thursday, February 10.

However, we now know that that won’t be happening. Since the news broke, Bates family fans have been searching for an explanation for this sudden change.

In the company’s statement, they said, “We will not be premiering Bringing Up Bates Season 11 on UPtv as planned as we will be focusing our programming in 2022 on movies and a new scripted series to be announced soon.”

However, this doesn’t truly explain what happened behind the scenes ahead of the surprising announcement. Fans think it’s especially strange that the series would be canceled so close to the premiere. After all, at this point, filming and production are wrapped up and the episodes are ready to go.

Many fans agree that it would make more sense for UPtv to cancel the series after airing one last season because everything is ready to go. Now, it seems that even those associated with the network find this “unusual.”

UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates decision is very ‘unusual’ for the network.

Blogger Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball spoke with sources close to the situation and shared her findings. Her source was “formerly connected to UPtv.”

In a new Instagram post, Katie writes, “UPTV executives had been working to push out reality tv from their network for a few years, but the sudden end of production was ‘unusual’ says my source.”

Katie continues, “According to my source, UPTV abruptly stopped production of season 11 of Bringing up Bates. The network had paid for filming in Italy, Nathan & Katie’s weddings, and other family announcements.”

With so much already done for the season, this seems like an odd time for the show to be canceled. Katie adds that something big would have had to happen for UPtv to pull the plug so suddenly. In many cases, networks announce cancelations and renewals before any part of the production is underway.

So, do you agree that it’s odd that UPtv would cancel Bringing Up Bates Season 11 so suddenly? What do you think is next for the Bates family? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. For more news about the Bates family, come back to TV Shows Ace.

  1. OUTRAGEOUS. It certainly wasn’t because of ratings…ugh I’ve always looked forward to them. Maybe Magnolia will pick them up

  2. Oh boo hoo…now they will have to get real jobs and stop scamming people with their slave labor clothing “boutique”.
