Dr. Now refuses to argue with Margaret and Millie
During one of her appointments, Margaret loses weight… But, she doesn’t lose very much. Dropping less than 20 pounds, she begins to cry with the doctor enters the room admitting how disappointed she is. She, however, tells the doctor she isn’t sure what happened. Dr. Now points out that Margaret is clearly eating more than she thinks she is.
Her mother jumps in and insists that she prepares all of her meals and they are properly proportioned. She adds the only thing that has changed is Margaret’s choice of dressing. Dr. Now asks if she’s drinking a gallon of the dressing. Then, he notes that clearly, she is just gaining weight from thin air.
Dr. Now, however, makes it clear he is not willing to argue with Millie and Margaret. He tells them both they can argue with the scale, but they will not argue with him. This lines up perfectly with his belief that the scale never lies, people do.
The TLC doctor tells Margaret he doesn’t want any more tears or any more excuses. He just wants her to stick to the diet and lose weight. During a video call prior to this episode, the doctor also tells Margaret there is nothing wrong with skipping a meal if she’s not hungry. He reassures her at her weight that going without food isn’t going to harm her.
My 600-Lb. Life: Things turn around
Dr. Now remains firm and strict with Margaret and Millie during the entire episode. Millie jokes that Margaret will want to dance with the doctor when she dips under 200 pounds. Dr. Now seems to change the subject pretty quickly. By the end of the episode, however, Margaret loses enough weight to get the surgery. Fans can only hope she’s continued to stick to her guns and drop more weight.
