Fathom Events ‘Betty White: 100 Years Young’: Will Customers Be Refunded?
Betty White: 100 Years Young—A Birthday Celebration is slated to be featured on over 900 movie theater screens on Monday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (all times local). This was supposed to be an exclusive and once-in-a-lifetime celebratory event. Fathom Events released a press release on the screening on December 16th with Betty White herself inviting everyone to join her in celebrating her 100th birthday.
As we previously reported, Betty White passed away this morning at the age of 99. Those who have already purchased tickets to attend the celebration of her birthday have questions. Will Betty White: 100 Years Young—A Birthday Celebration still air at theaters that support Fathom Events? Can customers get a refund if they are not longer in the mood to celebrate?
Betty White: 100 Years Young—A Birthday Celebration: Will The Show Go On?
Just a few minutes ago, the creative minds behind Betty White: 100 Years Young—A Birthday Celebration issued a statement via Fathom Events. The producers note that their hearts mourn her passing as they have worked with her for many years. The statement reveals the show will go on. Producers plan to release the film on January 17th. Instead of being a celebration of her 100th birthday, the film will be a tribute to the incredible life she has lived over the past few years.
This celebration of America’s sweetheart is an opportunity to remember Betty White’s amazing life and career. It’s a time to come together and enjoy Betty’s classic moments.”
The statement reads that they will be altering the name of the film to be Betty White: A Celebration.
Can customers get a refund?
On Twitter, there has been some chatter from customers wondering how they can get a refund on Betty White: 100 Years Young—A Birthday Celebration. There has been some pushback on this question because some think it is “too soon” and others thought it was just in poor taste to ask the question today.
On the Fathom Events website, it explains refunds for tickets must be requested directly from where the tickets were purchased. Fathom Events explains they do not directly handle the sales of tickets. So, they also cannot handle the refund process.
Customers looking for a refund to this event will need to reach out directly to the third-party vendor they used to purchase the tickets.
