American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is ending her popular talk show. She wants to spend more time with her kids after the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Both Drew Barrymore’s and Jennifer Hudson’s talk shows were renewed. Yet, there’s always room for more. Now, NBC is reportedly considering an iconic duo from Traitors to replace Kelly Clarkson. Keep reading for all the details.

Kelly Clarkson’s Daytime Talk Show To End

Kelly Clarkson was a 20-year-old singer from Texas when she won American Idol in 2002. She had no idea that winning the competition would lead to the level of stardom that it did. In addition to her music career, Kelly Clarkson has regular hosting gigs, Las Vegas residencies, and serves as a coach on this season of The Voice.

In 2019, she ventured into new territory as the host of a daytime talk show. The Kelly Clarkson Show was an immediate hit. Viewers particularly love the Kellyoke segment, where the talented singer performs cover songs from all music genres.

The talk show invested in Kelly Clarkson in a huge way in 2023. It moved from Los Angeles to NYC when she moved to the East Coast with her two children. At the time, she was co-parenting with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. He passed away in August 2025 after a battle with cancer.

After weeks of speculation, Kelly Clarkson confirmed in February that she was ending her talk show later this year. Season 7 will be The Kelly Clarkson Show’s last. It will end in the Fall of 2026. Singer Pink recently took over the talk show, but insisted it wasn’t permanent. Instead, NBC is reportedly eyeing an unexpected, but iconic, duo from The Traitors.

NBC Considering Iconic Traitors Duo To Replace Her

The contestants on The Traitors are either faithfuls or traitors. They form unlikely alliances to stay in the game as long as possible. However, in many cases, the contestants also form surprising friendships. The reality competition has given pop culture several iconic friendships, including Dylan Efron and “Boston” Rob Mariano.

But one duo from the Peacock reality show has a long history in front of the cameras and is one of the top contenders to replace Kelly Clarkson. After hanging up their skates, Olympic athletes Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir became broadcasters for NBC. The best friends have been covering the Olympics together since 2014.

They competed on Season 4 of The Traitors and made it to the final episode, though they didn’t win. NBC is reportedly eyeing them as potential replacements for Kelly Clarkson. “This isn’t some casual brainstorm. There are actual development conversations happening. They’re looking at formats. They’re running numbers,” an insider told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack.

“They check every box. Polished, experienced, and they understand spectacle. NBC isn’t experimenting — they’re positioning,” another source said about the iconic duo.

What do you think about Johnny and Tara taking over? Finally, would you watch a talk show that they hosted? Let us know your thoughts about them in the comments below.
