Kathy Griffin Reveals Why She Hasn’t Forgiven Jon Hamm

Kathy Griffin Shared A Star-Studded Story During Podcast Appearance
Griffin is a prolific comedian and actress with a long-running career. Many may know her best from the Bravo reality series, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, which explored her life in Hollywood, airing from 2005 to 2010.
Despite jokingly labeling herself as a “D-list” star, Griffin’s storied career has allowed her to meet a number of stars over the years. Recently, she looked back on an encounter with one star in particular: actor Jon Hamm.
Many were introduced to Hamm through the 1960s-set drama series, Mad Men. Currently, he stars on the Apple TV series, Your Friends and Neighbors.
However, Griffin recently suggested that she might not want to appear on a show with Hamm anytime soon. She explained she had an encounter with the actor at a dinner party that didn’t go so well during an episode of the podcast, In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele.
Joking that Hamm was on her current “hit list,” Griffin started the story by noting, “One time I got to be at this crazy dinner party with only eight people and freaking Jack Nicholson walks in.” She explained this party was thrown by the late Sue Mengers, who would ask her guests to sit around a coffee table to keep things intimate.
Griffin Also Shared A Surprising Connection She Had To Hamm
Despite having met him a couple of times, Griffin admitted that she was still starstruck around Nicholson. However, the two struck up a conversation, where they talked about The Departed, a film in which he starred. Griffin shared she was surprised that Nicholson was so open about his work, noting that this wasn’t normally like him.
However, Hamm was there and took her attention away. She shared, “Hammy was wasted. So, he’s next to me in my ear, and he’s going, ‘You’re so old. What’s it like to be so old? Your Emmys are fake Emmys.’ And I go, ‘No, no, Hammy. And you don’t even have an Emmy.'”
Griffin noted that she returned to her conversation with Nicholson. However, she admitted, “I never forgave Hammy for that.” She felt that Hamm was trying to be funny, but ultimately wasn’t.
Earlier in the conversation, Griffin also admitted to a surprising connection with Hamm. She revealed, “I used to date a guy that was in his fantasy football league, and I thought Hammy was rude to my boyfriend. I just thought, ‘Ooh, that shows bad character.”
Ultimately, throughout the podcast, Griffin still admitted a few positive things about the actor. She admitted he was “amazing” as an actor, “even funny” at times, and “hot.”
