Social Media Drags Trump After Appearing To Disrespect Melania
A video of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, recently went viral on social media. Since then, a lot of commenters have discussed their whole exchange. In particular, various social media users questioned the president’s etiquette. However, others questioned what was going on in the video.
A Video Concerning President Trump & First Lady Melania Recently Resurfaced On Social Media
First introduced to many as a businessman and media personality, Trump previously served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He was later elected the 47th president during the 2024 presidential election.
Trump, who had married twice before, married Melania Knauss in 2006. She served as his First Lady during his first presidency in addition to his current one. The two also share a son, Barron, together, with Melania also being the stepmother of Donald’s four other children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Tiffany Trump.
A moment from President Trump’s first presidency recently went viral on social media. The scene came about in 2018, when the President and First Lady left the White House to visit Florida and Georgia, after the states endured hurricanes at the time.
Some Commenters Didn’t Think Things Were As They Appeared, Others Questioned The President’s Manners
In the video, Donald appeared to be walking hand-in-hand with Melania when he noticed the reporters. Approaching the group, he shared, “She did a great job on television the other night. And I didn’t do so bad either, but she did a great job on television.” At the time, this was in reference to her ABC News interview and his 60 Minutes interview.
What made the moment notable for many was that it took place during the rain. When approaching the reporters, Trump took the umbrella with him, leaving Melania standing out in the open. As the two left, he appeared to keep the umbrella over his head.
A video of the moment later appeared on social media in late 2025. At the time, various commenters shared their reactions to the video. Many questioned the president’s manners during the moment, while sharing their sympathies toward Melania.
That said, a few others felt the video was taken out of context. As some noted, the puddles seen in the video appeared still, suggesting the rain could have stopped. Some comments included:
- “This man is no gentleman at all he hogging up the whole umbrella for himself and didn’t even cover his wife!”
- “Omg!! What happened to women’s independence?”
- “Not raining or you can see it in the puddle.”
- “Afraid of his hair going flat and his makeup running.”
