Popular Weatherman Fired Unexpectedly
When we think of the weather, most Americans immediately think of the popular Today weather reporter, Al Roker. He gives daily weather reports on the national morning program. However, local news stations have their own weatherman. A popular weatherman for a news station in Southwest Florida revealed his shocking departure that viewers didn’t see coming.
Matt Devitt didn’t see it coming, either. “LIFE UPDATE: After 10 years, my time with WINK News has come to an end after being let go from my role as Chief Meteorologist on Thursday.,” the popular weatherman wrote on social media.
He continued, “This decision was not one that I expected or agreed with and was not given the opportunity to say goodbye on-air. It was a complete shock to me, my family and fellow coworkers.”
Matt Devitt called it an “honor” and “privilege” to report for Southwest Florida, especially during some of the deadly Hurricanes in recent years. The professional wished the best for his former co-workers and former station, WINK. He let fans know that he will update them on social media, but for now, he’s taking a break.
“I’m taking a brief pause professionally to reset and be with my family. I’ve missed them and I’m looking forward to every minute,” he wrote.

Needless to say, WINK viewers were in total shock by Matt Devitt’s firing. They took to social media to express their outrage at the shocking move. Former Congressman Newt Gingrich, who served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia for decades, demanded answers.
