The View might be looking for a new co-host, as Alyssa Farah Griffin takes a break soon to welcome her first child. But viewers shouldn’t expect to see comedian Kathy Griffin step in. She opened up about why she was banned from the daytime talk show during a recent chat with Maury Povich.
Kathy Griffin Opens Up About The View Ban
Kathy Griffin is still clawing her way back to her previous fame. The comedian has always pushed the line. But she went too far in 2017. She took a major hit after posting a photo online with a prop that was meant to be President Trump’s bloodied, severed head. The former Bravo star lost many career opportunities from the photoshoot. She’s still dealing with the consequences today.

The View is often critical of President Trump, so it seems like it would be the perfect place for Kathy Griffin. But she’s not sure if she’s still banned from the ABC talk show, which films in New York, New York.
“I’ve been banned and unbanned [from The View] many times,” she told former talk show host Maury Povich. Kathy Griffin didn’t share what she did to get banned, but said it ties back to her feud with Barbara Walters. “Barbara has come back from the dead. The ghost of Barbara never leaves me,” Kathy Griffin said.
Barbara Walters created The View in 1997 as the first daytime talk show with a panelist of all-female hosts. She co-hosted the show until 2014. The beloved journalist passed away in 2022 at the age of 93.

Surprising Way She Feels About The ABC Talk Show Now
Kathy Griffin said she wasn’t sure if she’s still banned from The View or not. But if she is, there’s no hard feelings, at least on her end. She gushed over how popular the show is today, nearly 30 years since it first premiered.
“I really respect those women for going on that show day in and day out because they know there’s blowback,” Kathy Griffin said.
She added, “And by the way, to this day, The View is one of the most buzzworthy shows on television or anywhere. People still get up in arms online talking about who said what on The View, so it’s always been a high-stakes show.”
The ABC talk show consistently brings in ratings. The network seems to be sticking by it despite rumors otherwise. But with one major change. The talk show opened its doors to more conservative voices, including an upcoming guest host with ties to President Trump.
