Judge Slams Dr. Phil McGraw’s ‘Candor’ In Court Case
Talk show host Dr Phil McGraw has been locked in a legal battle for months. The judge slammed his ‘candor’ in the matter. Keep reading for the latest development in the messy lawsuit.
Judge Slams Dr. Phil McGraw’s ‘Candor’ In Bankruptcy Case
Dr. Phil left his popular daytime talk show in 2023 after 21 seasons. TV viewers first met him on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The talk show also launched the career of Dr. Oz, who is currently serving in the Trump administration.

A year after the end of his talk show, Dr. Phil launched Merit Street Media. Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison signed on to the new company and was supposed to launch his own dating show. That never happened. In an unexpected development, Merit Street Media filed for bankruptcy in July.
After months of litigation, the legal proceeding came to a shocking conclusion when the judge ruled against him. The case moved to liquidation proceedings. In a scathing rebuke of Dr. Phil, the judge called out his lack of “candor” in the bankruptcy filings.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Judge Scott Everett lambasted Dr. Phil for filing for bankruptcy. The judge said it was clear that Merit Street Media was “dead as a doornail when the bankruptcy was filed.”
Dr. Phil’s personal fortune, including a massive estate in Dallas, Texas, reportedly played a role in the judge’s decision. The next step is naming a trustee to oversee the liquidation of Merit Street Media. But Dr. Phil’s legal troubles aren’t over.

Another Lawsuit Still Underway
Merit Street Media filed a breach of contract lawsuit against the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN.) They claimed that TBN didn’t fulfill the $500 million distribution deal it signed with Merit Street Media. The Trinity Broadcast Network responded with a lawsuit of its own.
The broadcasting company accused Dr. Phil of fraud. They accused the talk show host of scheming to steal money from them through the shocking distribution deal. Dr. Phil recently took the stand to deny the accusations. He launched a new media company, Envoy Media, just days after filing for bankruptcy for Merit Street Media.
TBN alleges that the bankruptcy filing was a ploy to get the necessary funds to launch the new media company. “I’m like the little engine that could. I’m doing everything I can to keep Merit up and running. This theory, that this was all a ploy to set up Envoy Media, is absurd,” Dr. Phil said in court.
Losing the bankruptcy case will likely have an affect on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. But will the bankruptcy ruling swing the other trial in his favor or against him? Let us know what you think in the comments.
