A shocking moment between two co-hosts of The View is still talked about today. In 2007, Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck had a showdown on-air the likes of which viewers had never seen.
The two engaged in a heated debate about the war raging in Iraq at the time. The second Iraq war started in 2007 after the United States invaded the Middle Eastern country.
Relations were tense in the U.S. at the time because of the terrorist attack on New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, on September 11, 2001. The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people.
But not everyone in the country agreed with the decision to go to war with Iraq again. Rosie O’Donnell was one of the Americans who disagreed with invading Iraq. She was accused of calling the U.S. soldiers “terrorists” for taking part in the war.
She called out her View co-host live on air for not defending her. Elisabeth Hasselbeck shouted back, “You are an adult and I am certainly not going to be the person for you to explain your thoughts; they’re your thoughts!”

Rosie O’Donnell made a shocking claim about the fight on the Ricki-Lee, Tim Joel radio show recently.
She claimed that the explosive argument was planned by the show’s producers. “Our producer is not an on-the-fly kind of guy, he wasn’t mister like, ‘Let’s go to the split-screen.’ That was prepared,” she said.
The former View co-host added, “So, the whole thing, I think, was a setup.” Elisabeth Hasselbeck has yet to respond to the accusations that the blow-up was planned.
