Steve Burton has played Jason since 1991. He had hundreds, if not thousands, of scenes with Leslie Charleson over the years. She joined GH in 1977 as Monica.
Jane Elliot joined the ABC soap a year later as Tracy, Alan Quartermaine’s younger sister and Monica’s future sister-in-law. Before marrying Alan, Monica was married to Jeff Webber.
Monica and Tracy were at odds for the last forty-some years. But as they grew older, their relationship evolved into mutual respect and even friendship. When Jason told Tracy that Monica had died, she was devastated.

Drew’s Horrific Reaction To Monica’s Death
Cameron Mathison took over the role of Drew in 2021. The character has had a villain turn in the last year, leading to Tracy stripping him of the Quartermaine name.
The Congressman was shot by an unknown assailant earlier this month. Drew was still in the hospital recuperating when he was informed about Monica’s death.
The actor chatted with Soaps.com about Drew’s reaction to his mother’s death. “Monica’s death is incredibly traumatizing for him. Regardless of whether or not she raised him, she called him her son. He called her his mom. There was a really, really important bond there for Drew,” he said.
Drew’s grief causes him to lash out in a way that Cameron Mathison describes as “awful.” “It’s so horrible,” he said. What does Drew do?
He prevents Jason’s son, Danny, from comforting Scout, Drew’s daughter, about losing their grandmother. Danny and Scout’s mother, Sam McCall, was murdered last year. The unkind move is about hurting Jason by hurting his son.
Cameron Mathison weighed in on why Drew hates his brother so much. “Drew has so much animosity and hatred toward Jason, who is out there literally killing people and is still thought of as a hero. Jason always had the Quartermaines thinking he’s the golden child,” he said.
