This may be something far removed from most Western thinking, where we are used to living in big cities, only encountering wildlife in the zoo or while watching something on National Geographic. However, for many people around the world, contending with local wildlife is still very much part of their everyday reality. In some cases, these animals get the upper hand.
In this recent situation, a teen girl in India had an encounter with a local crocodile that turned fatal, as the details from this unfortunate encounter continue to surface in the aftermath. So, what happened in this situation leading up to this unfortunate loss of life?
Teen Girl In India Has Fatal Encounter With Crocodile
A 15-year-old girl named Shevani Kevat was collecting water from a nearby river when a local crocodile decided to make its move. For anyone who has ever seen a wildlife documentary, it’s a regular occurrence for crocodiles in the wild to sneak up on unsuspecting prey, drag them into the water, and kill them with their notorious “death roll.”
The 15-year-old girl was filling pots with water from the Parvati River in Rajasthan. This is something that many people do as part of their daily lives, and something people have been doing for generations. Unfortunately for this teen, her routine of collecting water turned fatal.
It has been reported by several outlets that the animal “lunged” at the teen. The reptile then proceeded to drag the teen into the river. This caught the attention of locals, with many getting into boats and out on the water to look for her. This eventually led to a more organized search. However, locals were not able to find the teen following this gruesome and tragic incident.
The teen’s body was eventually found floating in the same river the next morning, with an autopsy concluding that she died as a result of drowning, not on account of any wounds from the attack.
