'Deadliest Catch' Fans Claim To Have Spotted Edgar Hansen

Fans haven’t seen much of Edgar Hansen on Deadliest Catch, at least in recent seasons. However, some fans claim that they still see him on the show. Many of these fans have taken to social media to discuss these sightings. This also comes out as the show is in its 21st season.

Fans Previously Noticed That Edgar Hansen Wasn’t Appearing On Deadliest Catch As Much As He Used To

Edgar is the brother of Captain Sig Hansen. As fans of Deadliest Catch know, he served on the F/V Northwestern vessel for around three decades.

At one point on the show, fans believed that Edgar would one day take over the vessel. However, he ended up being passed over for his niece, Mandy.

As previously reported, Edgar had also been the subject of various legal issues after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he was quoted as saying, “I committed this assault for the purpose of my own sexual gratification. I am very sorry for that conduct, and I have commenced treatment to ensure that nothing like this assault ever happens again.”

As these legal issues have come to light, fans have also noticed that Edgar also hasn’t appeared on the show as much as before. However, some fans claim that he isn’t completely gone either.

On social media, one person claimed to have seen a figure on the show that they believe is Edgar. They claimed, “Watching season 20 and seeing somebody with a blurred face on the Northwestern. I’m guessing that must be Edgar. It’s kinda creepy to see some blurred guy in the background of so many shots.” The fan even compared the figure to a “ghost.”

Other Fans Also Claimed To Have Spotted Edgar On The Show

In addition, the fan continued, “Another season 20 sighting – When is Jake is on the Northwestern and he’s up fixing the lights, someone says something to him and the closed captioning for the subtitles said ‘[Edgar].’ Oops.”

The fan noted that “everyone has their thoughts about what [Edgar] did.” However, citing other changes to the crew, they noted that, “It’s just not the same boat anymore. But then again, how many of us were doing the same thing 20 years ago?”

Taking to the comments, other fans claimed that they also believe they’ve seen Edgar on the show. As one fan noted, “That’s Edgar, you can see him blurred in other episodes as well.” Another shared, “They’ve caught Edgar a few times.”

Deadliest Catch is currently in its 21st season. The show had its season premiere on August 1, 2025.
