Fans Rage Over ABC’s Latest Firing: Is ‘The View’ Next?
CBS unexpectedly announced in July that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was ending after the current season. The show wraps up in 2026 after 33 years. Stephen Colbert took over from David Letterman in 2015. The network cited financial reasons, but many feel it was political in nature after CBS’s parent company settled a million-dollar lawsuit with President Trump.
Now another talk show was yanked from the air after controversial comments about Charlie Kirk. Fans are worried about what this means for The View.
Popular Late-Night Talk Show Abruptly Yanked From Air
Night owls hoping to tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night were sorely disappointed. The show was pulled from the air after Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by the network. The shocking move came days after he addressed podcaster Charlie Kirk’s death in his opening monologue.

The show is on an indefinite hiatus, and may not return at all. The network plans to air a vigil for the slain activist on Friday night in place of Jimmy Kimmel’s show. The incident has sparked debates online about free speech and the First Amendment.
What Exactly Did He Say?
Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a speaking event at a Utah college last week. The reactions to his death were varied. A lot of people were devastated, but others were accused of “celebrating” his murder.
The news this week has been flooded with reports of teachers, professors, and others losing their jobs due to their social media posts about Charlie Kirk’s death. But no one expected Jimmy Kimmel to be temporarily – and possibly permanently – removed from television.
So, what did he actually say to receive such a harsh punishment? Us Weekly shared his monologue regarding Charlie Kirk.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them with everything they can to score political points from. In between the finger pointing, there was grieving.”
His next comments were about President Trump’s reaction to Charlie Kirk’s death. Trump previously called the podcaster his friend. “He’s at the fourth stage of grief, construction,” Jimmy Kimmel said about President Trump talking about the construction of a ballroom at the White House when asked about Charlie Kirk.
The late-night host added, “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

Fans Rage Over ABC’s Latest Firing: Is The View Next?
Even people who aren’t fans of Jimmy Kimmel took to social media to speak out against ABC removing the show. Many agreed that what Jimmy Kimmel said fell under his First Amendment rights to free speech. Others pointed out that a Fox News anchor wasn’t fired after shocking comments about murdering homeless people by lethal injection.
Fans of ABC’s daytime talk show The View raged against the news. Many wondered how it wouldl affect the show. The co-hosts were allegedly warned earlier this summer about their anti-Trump commentary.

“The View is next,” one fan wrote on social media. Another asked, “Who else has noticed how the ladies on The View have already been toning it down?”
A third fan agreed the end is near for the ABC daytime show. “The View is in imminent danger. For how long can all six women avoid saying something that won’t trigger DT?”
Jimmy Kimmel previously spoke about his plans to retire. He wasn’t ready then, but he might be now that his talk show was yanked off the air.
