Texas Teen Loses Piece Of Skull Over Joke With Classmate
A Texas teenager was hospitalized after he made a joke with a classmate. Unfortunately, the joke fell flat as he ended up getting severely hurt and is now missing a big piece of his skull. Lukas Hardeman, 14, was in his middle school cafeteria when he made a joke, but it did not land. His schoolmate allegedly got aggressive with Lukas and “picked him up and body slammed him.” This led to him hitting his head on a stool and then on the ground as he fell down.
From that point, Lukas suffered “multiple brain bleeds and severe swelling,” but he soon landed in the hospital for his injuries. That was when the teenager had to have emergency surgery, but two pieces of Lukas’ skull had to be removed by the care team. This was to ensure that the pressure and bleeding would subside, and he went to the ICU. Due to the severity of his situation, Lukas’ family started a GoFundMe to help out with his medical costs. Now, he has 60 stitches holding his head together, and he allegedly feels “embarrassed.”
Furthermore, his family shared that he struggles to look in the mirror and see this version staring back at him. Lukas has since been released from the hospital and is now on his way home. However, he has a very long road ahead of him before he can feel better. The initial incident occurred on August 21st, 2025, and the family is hoping to raise $45K. Currently, the Texas family has brought in nearly $40K, with someone donating over $5K. One person who donated had firsthand experience with the situation, and it’s devastating.
The Moment Of Horror
A classmate of Lukas Hardeman was in the cafeteria when this went down. Their family donated $20 to the cause and shared these words:
- My oldest was in the lunchroom when this happened, I cant even imagine what you all are going through, prayers to all of you and to Lukas, may he recover quickly and fully.
The school will never be the same after this has happened, especially since it happened over a joke. It does seem that the student who assaulted Lukas has been charged. Unfortunately, their charges have not been released to the public, but it is good that they are getting punished for this behavior. What happened is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
